    2003 Ferrari 360 Modena, $95,000 - Cars.com

I really want a F430 Berlinetta (red/black) but my budget is only $100k-ish, so it's either wait until next year or find a nice 360 to "hold me over" for a year or two while I save more $.

My current car is a C63 AMG, the lack of power in the 360 does concern me (vs my torque monster AMG), but the looks of the F-car makes it a bit easier to swallow.

Any commnets on this 360 are greatly appreciated!

    EDIT:
The carfax shows emission failures/pass twice (once in 2005 and another in 2009, along with a safety failure)
Anything to worry about from so many years ago? Seems to have aftermarket exhaust now.

To me its overpriced. Don't know a thing about the dealer. Get a ppi for sure.

Love the red stitching. It is priced a bit high but that is just an asking price. If it has perfect documentation, comes with absolutely everything and was well cared for might be a great deal to get out the door at 90k from a dealer IMO.

that's what I was thinking too. In the description, it mentions new belt and full service 20 miles ago. No word on the clutch...

I like the specs of the car, what kind of seats are those, are they the standard seats?

The seats are standard, not the Daytona style.

In one of the pictures of the steering wheel, you can see the paddle shifters. The original white up/down has been filled in by black paint. I do not see any evidence in the pictures of the sticky issue on the window switches or the side mirror adjustment switch. It appears that the sticky button issue may have been remedied which can add cost to ownership to make the car right. I would want to verify it in person.

Looks like the car has it has the F430 rims on it and I think it makes the car look great.

One of the nice things with the 2003 F1, is that you will have the latest TCU installed which will help shifting and increase clutch life.

I agree the price is high, but when I was searching for my car, the dealers seemed to put an extra $5000 premium on cars with less than 10K miles... and it is resale RED!

A PPI is no guarantee that the car is sound long term, but it gives you a snapshot of the current condition (Hopefully). Make sure you get a copy of the SD2 printout showing clutch wear.

I had a dealership perform my PPI and they missed a few important things such as the EL panel was burned out on the dash (made it real hard to drive the car home from the car carrier at night not knowing the rpm or speed) and the gearbox mount was worn out. All fixable, but could have used that information in my negotiations.

Whether a 360 or 430, enjoy the search!

Huh? Who told you there is a lack of power? Them's fightin words!! :)

edit: Besides, it looks as though the Merc has to resort to parlor tricks to get away from the Big Bad 360! lol

Haha, not picking a fight here! I wouldn't be replacing my C63 with an inferior car. The low end power and linear power band of the M156 engine is amazing! My car is fully optioned, including the performance pkg, LSD, etc., it's a great car, but it's no Ferrari, but I'm preaching to the choir here :)

Thanks for the thoughtful comments! I will be getting a PPI for any car I buy that's for sure. I would also like to have all keys, manuals, covers, etc if possible and yeah, I'll negotiate (especially if it's with a dealer) :)

The standard seats look nicer than usual, maybe it's the red stitching, idk. I'd prefer Daytonas, but it's my least important option on my wish list.

What color combo do you really want? I find that red/black is not as desirable as red/tan. If you really want a F430, wait. If you really like this car, you can have the seat inserts converted to Daytonas.

My favorite color combo is red/blk. I love all black interior cars, in fact, every car I've owned has had black leather (15 plus cars). I guess I'm boring and predictable :) this will be the first red car I've owned, typically not a red car fan, but f-cars look so damn good in red!

I know the resale isn't as good with red/blk, but I'm willing to take the hit and hopefully negotiate that difference in before buying the car. Nothing wrong with red/tan, I may end up with one instead. Can't explain why I like red/blk better, I just do! :)

This will be my first f-car and God willing, there's enough time and money to get a few more color combos/models in the future!

    My 360 Modena wish list:

    2003, 04, 05
    Red/blk
    F1
    Shields
    Daytonas
    Challenge grill
    CS or 430 wheels
    5-18k miles
History, all keys, covers, original window sticker
    No paint or stories

My budget is $100k or less and I'm looking for a primo example. Obviously, not everything is a must on the list, especially the "fixable" stuff.

Thought I'd share in case anyone knows a similar car.

Just wait and get the 430 IMHO. If you get the 360, in the mileage range and prices your looking at.. there's no guarantee you're not going to have to drop some cash into it in addition to purchase price. Avoid the hassle of selling it and any CELs, F1 lights, and other "minor things" that come up. Just wait and get the 430.

Looks like no one knows the car or the dealer. I would prefer a local car or one that is easy to travel to by plane.
