I'm trying to sort out some electrical problems on an '81 Mondial 8. Apparently the fuse/relay box has been updated because it has newer blade type fuses. The left bank of fuses has 11 fuses used rather than the 9 shown in the owner's manual and the electircal diagram, with the leftmost fuse protecting the headlight motor circuit. The relay that makes the headlight motors go up and down is "T" position on the diagram which should be for the seatbelt buzzer. With the relay in, the lights go up with the ignition off, but go down 10 sec. or so after the ignition is turned on. I can jump terminals 30 and 87 and the lights work fine and don't drop when the ignition is turned on. As far as I can tell so far, the wire colors are in the correct spots for each of the connectors into the fuse block and I've checked/replaced relays and cleaned all of the contacts. I understand all of the board issues with Mondials and 308's. I'd just like to know why the extra fuses and what I have for now. If anybody knows this car and what's been done, it would be very helpful, because the function of fuses and relays don't match the box cover/manual/circuit diagram. The CarFax records go back to 1991 then skip to 2004 in Pinkney, MI (dealer?) Howell, MI, Freeland, MI and Carlstadt, NJ. VIN is ZFFAD08A2B0037447. Thanks -Reid

There is a TSB that tells which wires to clip and to replace the seatbelt relay buzzer when using the newer relay board in the older cars. Sounds like you have the replacement relay/ fuse board from GT Auto parts--I had similar issues when I replaced the old board on my 82 Mondial 8 with the new technology GT Auto parts one before disconnecting these wires. I completed step one of disconnecting three wires in TSB and the headlight issues went away, still no seatbelt buzzer as i did not get a new relay.

Send me an email and I can forward it to you, as I could not get it to attach
