I am considering adding a Cali to my fleet, primarily for my wife to drive (I have a McLaren she will not drive), Seen this one for sale locally at a Porsche dealer, was supplied by Ferrari Ft Lauderdale who have looked after it for its life, last serviced there in December 2020 according to CarFax.

The previous owner traded it in there for a 911 Cab. Obviously buying from a non Ferrari dealer means no warranty. Was in lovely condition, noticed a couple of things though:

    • Minor leather shrinkage on top of dash, most noticeably the piece on top of the instrument cluster. Fixable?
    • Roof switch was loose, although it still operated the roof both open and close

So, does anyone know the car and can comment on condition? Thoughts on pricing would be appreciated too

I believe you can buy the New Power Warranty from a Ferrari dealer but it requires an inspection (900ish at my dealer). I have a nearly identical spec/age car in TDF blue. Great car and only complaint is weak audio system but I didn't buy a Ferrari for the radio. Good to see prices coming down a little but this is still more than I paid almost 2 years ago. It might have one of the 7 year free services left.

Loose console buttons can be expensive to fix. Looks like it may have some sticky buttons.

The dash covering repair cost/difficulty depends on which section you're considering. The two pieces over the instrument cluster (small 'turtle back' and larger section it sits on) are relatively easy to remove and work on. The rest of the dash is another matter, requiring major disassembly. The switches on the center console (roof and windows) are flimsy and easily broken. The parts are somewhat expensive, but certainly not a deal breaker, and easy enough to replace. Other caution areas on that model are the motor mounts, which need replacing much more often than they should, and the retractable top mechanism, which is complex beyond comprehension. The battery is notoriously sensitive to even the most minute deviation from full charge, and will cause all manner of seemingly unrelated warning lights (and the top to malfunction). Check brake pad and rotor wear/condition as they are painfully expensive to replace. Best of luck in your search.

Get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection). It will be at your own expense. I would not buy a pre-owned car unless the dealer allowed a test drive and an independent PPI.

Be aware that on the Cali T the window switches are no longer available and have been superseded by a part that requires buying the switches and a new harness, so it's several hundred dollars plus labor to replace it. Some of the opportunists who have a stash of the old $30 switches will sell you one for $300 and that is going to break, too ;)

I do not believe the top switch is part of that assembly, though. Both my window switches are loose and I have just been handling them gently. Actually, if you remove one, you can see that you can still easily operate the windows by just pressing down on the square opening that they fill. It's just that the switches were made of cheap plastic with little tabs that inevitably will break after a while. The redesigned switch screws in and looks stronger but will not work with the old harness. You can probably "rebuild" the original switch by building it up with some epoxy and shaping it. Actually, someone should just figure out how to 3D print one.

The top of the dash on the T is a bit different from the original Cali. I think it's a common malady. Ferrari apparently glues but does not staple down the leather so it will pull. Good idea to keep it out of the sun and well conditioned once you have it repaired.

Seems like a nice car and a reasonable price to me in the current market. I would expect to pay $10-15k more from a Ferrari dealer, but it would probably come with the New Power warranty. Whether the peace of mind is worth the cost of the inspection and buying the warranty ... it's up to you. I had a 2-year New Power warranty on my 2015 which just expired -- never had a single claim on it -- and I'm rolling the dice and going without. Just had my last free service. I figure if I own the car for another 2 years that would have been $10k in warranty cost anyway if I do have an issue. And be aware that the New Power warranty does cover some expensive stuff, but there is plenty of other expensive stuff on the car that is not covered so ... to quote Clint Eastwood, "Do you feel lucky?" :)

They wouldn't allow a test drive until we agree on pricing, and go through the sales process. They did say it would be non committal if anything is not right during the test drive (so, why not let me drive it to begin with... strange, but that's their stance). They said they would allow a PPI too. Couple more questions:

Is there any way to see what options the car has (they did not know)? Contact Ferrari Ft Lauderdale?
Any recommendations for a PPI in the Palm Beach / Broward County area?

That's exactly what it felt like, tabs holding the switch in were broken. Except it's the roof switch in the center console, not the window switches.

Regarding the full list of options, the factory in Maranello can check the build sheet if they are given the vin number. I don't know if that request must come from an authorized Ferrari dealer, however.

Not sure if you’re committed to a certain color but I’m about to sell my 15 Cali T thru consignment at Ferrari of Scottsdale. I have the two exact same issues on my Cali with the leather shrinkage and the passenger side window button a little loose. Message me if you want to chat. Color is Bianco Italia with a Blue and Black interior.

Any F dealer will generate the original build sheet for you with the VIN. Central buttons look ****ty to me. I would 100% get it inspected at an F dealer and if you think you're leaning towards buying it go for the warranty level inspection (they will charge you as much anyway from what I've seen on other threads)

I'm putting up my 2015 Cali T in TdF/Cuoio for sale in early August. If you're still looking then, let me know. :)
