wow, seems like a sweet car, that the seller doesn't know too much about. Aren't those Bob Norwood conversions pretty expensive? The wide body looks sweet.. No reserve too....
read the questions and answers on the ebay auction that seller is full of Cr#p! He claims with under 5 grand this would be a 30K+ car... Yeah right! I wont win it because he claims to have turned down 20k for it.. If I did I would strip the interior, bumpers, and make it a track car for fun... too far gone to restore..
Love the "cant' be that expensive to fix it attitude". Little bondo, spray paint, gasket-seal and a few more wire ties and you're off to Pebble Beach!
That car was done for Don Walker around 1982'ish, it was one of the first turbo 308's Bob ever did. Paul Bergman did the fenders, they were done in steel. S.W. down in Austin had the car for a while but I have not seen it in 15 years or so. I think that may have been a BAE turbo kit that Bob added an intercooler to, as you can see it still has CIS on it. The car was super cool back in its day and was featured in a magazine at one time. Looks like it could use a little TLC at this point.
Wow, talk about POS. It is sad that someone would let such a fine machine get into that shape. Oh well, hopefully someone will have fun putting it back to the road in great looking shape.
Don Walker of the Brown/Walker BMW M1 racing team fame from here in Dallas...and ex-owner of Brown motor Works over off Lemmon Ave? I think the other guy's first name was Pat (Brown). They were the orignial sponsors of the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix. I wish that would have continued....BUT, a few lawyers convinced the residents of the Fair Park area that they had a right to a class-action lawsuit as a result of the "noise" generated from the race, and they could get FREE money to support their crack habits! What a deal! I love those kind of lawyers....NOT! I think I saw this car back about '82 being used as a promotional draw for a Gelare Ice Cream store over off Beltline just East of Midway (now gone)....I still have the original pictures that I took of the car back then. I was in high school and seeing that car back then was an instant "SCHWING!" That wide body is pretty cool.
Don Walker.... One of the great self detonations of the SnL legacy His story is one i always wanted to do for TDM but i never will now. I have compiled the list of cars he touched, pretty damn impressive and the LONG list of people burned when his house of cards came tumbling down...
It's kind of funny reading those responses, but sad to see it in that current shape. Whoever takes on that project I wish them the best of luck, it going to need a ton of work & I got a feeling that head is warped due to cooling issues On the other hand this is a small part of F1 history & the early days of Norwood Autocraft, it could have some historical significance to certain collectors. Anyone find that article yet?
Warped heads can be straightened ( had a Mercedes 190E, ask me how I know). To bad it didnt have the 288 GTO kit or I'd be a bidder. All in all a good project car for those that can work on it themselves, a money pit if farmed out. I like the racer idea. Fiberglass buckets, Windows dont work ? put in nets. 8 Hrs left

Who would be interested in kicking in a small amount each ( it would be nice if 10 of us were interested) and buy this car and bring back to life a piece of Texas Ferrari History, strictly for educational and enjoyment purposes, and then auctioning it off with proceeds going to a charity? I'm in.
