I'm beginning my search for a 355 Spider, and while I've read about valve guides, headers, dash shrinkage, power tops, and everything on www.the355.com, I'm wondering if anyone knows this particular vehicle, or if they see something in the pics that I should know about. Also, assuming the service history and everything else checks out nicely, what price would you pay for it?

I'm not looking for a babied car, and I plan on driving it, so the 50k miles doesn't concern me all that much.

Also, should it be a concern that the dealership doesn't know their colors (interior OR exterior)? And I should get a PPI done by a third party, correct?

    The link to the car:

    Many thanks for your help!

The price 'feels' high to me, but its a really nice looking car. The mileage makes me feel good about the future for these cars.

I like that color blue, a few things to check for is when was the last major done? If it's been awhile I would negotiate the price to include getting it. Does the dealer have all of the records and books? Find out who the last owner was, he might be an F-chatter. And yes always get a PPI done.

You are right--that is def. NOT azzuro blue looks like TDF blue. Price is WAY TO HIGH for that car. If the car is ready to go with a recent service(less than a year) no major problems--I would say around $78-$80K ballpark figure---no more than that---nothing against the mileage, but when it comes to resale value--the mileage kills this car...

A quick check on SF's Craigslist shows that the dealer posted the car there, and had the colors correct (TDF Blue, Camel interior). Don't know why their on-website ad has the colors wrong, but that's okay. The ad claims to have all maintenance records (I'll check on books), and I'll discuss when the last major was done when I go on Saturday to check it out. I'll report back, of course.

TDF Blue looks wonderful on that car, as does NART (there's a NART on eBay right now, if you want to see it). I figured that $92k was pretty high for a car with that mileage, especially at this time of year. Mid-70s was what I thought would be reasonable, but I don't even want to think about that yet, until I get a good feeling seeing it in person, you know?

About the mileage - I know it's high, and I plan on putting a good amount more onto it. Of course, it'll hurt resale value, but for me, it's about enjoying it, and not worrying about resale until I want to let it go. Is the general consensus that high mileage equals "due for failure soon" or is it "tested and proven"?

way too high. you can buy a 99F1 spyder with around 10K miles for the mid 90's. that car won't fetch more than high 70K's
