I sold off a few toys and now In the market for a spyder either 348 or 355 for a Sunday driver and came across this car at Beverly Hills car club yellow 94 348 vin# zffrg43a3r0098213
Check vinwiki -nothing and carfax is not real informative I’m on the east coast so a quick look is not happening but will be in Oakland after the new year and if still available might make a trip to look at it if there’s any good feed back

Yes I will be doing a PPI and all that goes with that but seeing all the repair orders in the ad with “customer declined repair” I hope someone in the area might know the car

This dealer seems to sell a lot of cars at below market value and they sit forever. Whenever I see one I always assume it’s got troubles. But I could be wrong.

Not familiar, could be a good car. That said I believe that company has a bit of a history with Texas flood cars etc. Check it thoroughly. Yellow Spider though, nice!

Thanks I am suspicious about the dealers reputation for moving cars that are questionable And I’m not scared of a project as long as the frame and body are good
It looks like it lived in the Bay Area for the last 20k miles wondering where the first where
Either she looks nice and probably won’t last till I get out to Cali maybe I’ll just throw a number at them that I feel will be fare
again something that sound to good is probably not lol

Don't know the car but I have ben there a few times to look at cars. They do try to represent them best they can. They do have buyers all over that pick cars up for them. Yes I would get a PPI from a reputable place

may want to ask Bruce "Plugzit" to go with you he can smell issues with them. I'd come along also I like going to that shop it's in the Bowles of an industrial area in downtown LA. I just love those crappy areas plus I am always looking for old SL Mercedes or Jaguar 120-140's I have a few yards of nice stinky fez morocco burgandy leather that needs a car to call home.

Just give them a heads up and they will get it on a lift for you

That sound great and I’ll keep in mind if I move forward

It’s always good to have independent eyes and mind with you —- especially if they are “hound dogs that can sniff out problems”

I have been known to be a impulse buyer lol that’s why I sold off a boat 2 motorcycles and car the wife thinks I came to my senses lol but it is to make room for something else

I believe there have been a few threads on this dealer, none of them positive. That said, the car you are looking at may be ok, but I would do substantially more investigation if buying from them.

Like I mentioned they are very transparent about their cars. Look at the photos, they always show the worst things about the car in the ads.
Problem with most folk bite off more then they can chew meaning, think they can internet repair a car from a computer without tools.

I made my fortunes in the auto industry for 40+ years and have no issue at all dealing with them as a professional. Really depends on what your looking for. Like the saying goes, cant make a housewife from a prostitute :)

For GP I research BHCC and found a LA times video from 9/1/22 and some others and will say that they are a high volume low margin business model and that the people who are complaining really did not do their due diligence in checking the cars out properly before hand most story’s where “after the purchase their mechanic found “

Really I understand someone wanting to buy their dream car not a nightmare if you do not protect yourself with a PPI from a trusted shop that’s on you

No one can foresee everything that’s wrong but rust, body damage and some engine problems can be detected to a point by someone who does these things for a living or years if experience

I stated I don’t mind a project as long as the body and frame are straight —- I do not like or have any interest in that type of work—-

I do have a lot of experience in engine and electrical work which I will be fine doing but will not pay a premium if it’s needed

There’s a lot of true in “ buyer beware “

Especially when buying 25 - 30 years old vehicles which were known to be temperamental and high maintenance already back in the day.
