Hey guys, I just put a deposit on this mondial. It was being sold by the Black Horse Garage in Connecticut. It is an 1986 Mondial 3.2 cab..black/tan with 14K on the clock. It was originally bought in Illinois. Sold to recent owner in Connecticut in 2002. From the pictures the car is immaculate inside and out and the car's condition seems consistent with the mileage. Compression and leakdown were performed and the car performed flawlessly. It had a major last year and a 15K service this year. The vin# is ZFFXC26A9G0062591. Any info whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. including any nuggets of wisdom
That's a beauty and I tried to buy it from the CT owner before it went to Black Horse for its engine out service. But he, and ultimately Black Horse, wanted way too much for it at the time (2006). I did stop by to see the car and spoke with John at BH. Have you looked at the car yourself? You're not too far away. Attached is the text from the original eBay ad. The pics are from the CT owner during service at BH. I am going to see the car this weekend. Is it as nice as it looks in the pictures? From the pictures it seems to be a show queen. The owner also seemed to have also spent a good deal of money on maintenance. I agree, however, their asking price was pretty ridiculous, but in the end I got the car for what I believe was a very reasonable sum. If you wouldn't mind, give me any and all input you can on the car. If you feel more comfortable PM'ing me, please do, I would like to know all I can before I seal the deal this weekend.
At least you know the engine out was a real one! Good shot of the spring loaded tri-flange bolts, I was talking to Dr. Barry about....
I looked at it on Wades behalf back in 06'. Interior had lot of scuff marks, TRX wheels and not many recent miles stuck out as biggest concerns. Few other items i dont recall now. Last i saw they wanted 49k for this. Ill take the sawzall out right now to mine if you must have a cab!
Dave, thanks again. BTW, your car looks great the way it is! 49K was crazy (t Cab pricing) and I offered 40K even though it was probably worth $37K at the time. The car had recently come out of its garage queen status and I was a bit concerned with that as well.
