    Hello:

Recently there was a white 1988 Mondial Coupe on eBay that didn't meet the reserve. I've contacted the seller (Luxury Motor Cars out of Las Vegas) and the car is still available, at an attractive price. Does anyone know anything about the car? (Has anyone seen it in person?)

The link to the eBay auction is:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=230282768395

Yes, I hate the wheels too, but that can be fixed. I know that the car being white is a turnoff to a lot of people, but I like the color. The car being in Las Vegas is a pain for me, as taking time off of work to fly out there and see the car is going to be difficult right now. (Too bad the timing isn't better, as I'm going to Vegas in January...)

Oh, the car has no service history. If I bought it, the car would go straight to Norwood's for a belt change, etc.

Thanks for any input that you can provide.

I do not know the car but I want to add my encouragement. I think it looks awesome! I too would have the wheels brought back but I think that a white 3.2 Coupe would be a kick-ass car to have. The indicated miles are really low as well. I hope you get it because I would love to see that car done. :)

I have a brother in Vegas that might be willing to go take a look. He's knows a little about Ferraris, but isn't an owner. He could give you an idea of it's overall condition though. He's spent some time driving my (white! :)) 328 around, so he's not completely new to them.

There's a place locally you can get the wheels refinished.

It would be great if your brother could take a look at the car for me. I work in the financial sector and am prepping for an audit next week, so I can't fly out to Vegas for at least two more weeks. I would love to hear from someone if the car looks as nice in person as it does in the photos.

You mentioned that there is a local place where I could have the wheels refinished... I need to have the wheels refinished on my BMW M Roadster and was planning on taking them to Wheels of America. Is this the company you were talking about, or do you know of someplace else?

    Thanks.

It's still available as of yesterday. The dealership is asking $24,000 for it.

I assume you've already read about Luxury Motors on here. Personally, Luxury Motors + no service history = get your running shoes on. However, Penske-Wynn Ferrari is right there in town, so maybe you could have it sent over there for a PPI. Or check in the regional area on here to see if anyone knows a good independent in the Vegas area to do a PPI. From the pictures alone I agree that if the car suits your taste, it may be worth looking into further.

I Googled Luxury Motors, but didn't think to check them out here. I'll do that ASAP. Thanks for the tip.

If the car is still available when I get freed up from work I may fly out to Vegas to check it out. If I do I'll definitely have a PPI performed.

Edit: I just searched for Luxury Motors on Fchat... Maybe I'll pass on the car, or at least not send them a deposit. Thanks again for the information.

Definitely put an eyeball on it before sending a deposit. Still, the price doesn't seem too bad, and if it's a color you want you may be looking for some time for another one.

I'll ask my brother to stop by and take a look, see if anything is glaringly wrong. He's not far away. Did you talk to someone at the dealership in particular?

Thank you so much for your help. (And a presumptive big thank you to your brother.)

I've been dealing with Sebastian. I'm trying to keep as much communication with him as possible via email so that I have an audit trail. It doesn't seem that Sebastian knows much about the Mondial (for example, he told me that he doesn't know if the timing chain has been replaced) but, who knows, he may know more than he's letting on.

At point, I have to admit that what I've read about Luxury Motors is pretty discouraging -- especially considering all of the title issues I've read about, and the fact that Carfax reports that the car was last registered in Canada.

    Missed it by that much.

Sebastian (at Luxury Motors) just told me that he took a deposit on the car last night.

A sincere thanks to everyone for their input and offers of help.

If the deposit somehow "falls through" - please let us know. The only reason I say that is because if you expressed some interest in the car it would be par for the course for a disreputable dealer to play such a game with you. (I'm NOT saying they are disreputable, but would like to hear the story if things get interesting.) Dealer aside...I'll say it again that if this car suits your color combo tastes, it still looks like one to look further into. Best of luck.

I'll post here if I get a call from the dealership. I've been shopping for a Ferrari seriously for about 6 months. My preference is for a white car, although I would also seriously consider any non-red/non-yellow car. (Red/yellow cars are beautiful, they just don't fit my personality.)

Based on you color preference, I am guessing that you are not interested in my PM. I will look out for you locally. Good luck!
