I don't know the car but I don't think it sold that much under market value. It's still $25K+ over MSRP.

Thanks for the information. How many miles do you have on your car, Dave? Are you going to change your Name to Skylar430 Coupe?

That's not much over MSRP after you get done with taxes, etc. Base is $178K, add those seats and something like CCB and you are pretty close to what it sold for. Maybe someone didn't want to wait and had to have yellow, etc.

I wasn't thinking the price was high, I was thinking it was low relative to today's market value, not the MSRP. Right now through Ferrari's dealer listings, there isn't a 2005 F1 under $229K available (actually, maybe one, but there's no picture of it).

Doesn't look like many options, other than the seats and F1. And, although those seats are awesome, they actually detract from resale b/c people who don't know better think they're uncomfortable. Other than that, I don't know why the price was the way it was.

You're absolutely right! 229K is asking price leaving room for a good negotiator to get a deal at 213K

T, I got my new 07 car with delivery miles 40 or so...two months ago...Already put over 700 miles on it...I drive it every weekend...sometimes I take it to work during the week as well. Just had Bhane do the clear bra...so now it has skid plates, battery charger, and next I will be adding the IPOD...and I think thats about it, leaving it stock. Do I need to send an email to Rob Lay to change the user name to: Dave07F430F1?

The car appears to lack shields.

This is a no story car...I was going to buy it, but decided on the Stradale instead. I negotiated a 214k price Delivered to so.cal, as well as having the calipers painted, and Yoshi shields put on it.

Whoever bought it got a GREAT car! The only draw back was as stated previous, it is really a bare bones no option car, with the exception of the seats (you either like um or you dont). Car didnt have one chip, scratch or bug splat on it.

Nope, the shields are for cars that were raced. People are now putting them on their street cars which is a bit of a shame.

For most true Ferrari enthusiasts that fore-go shields, it has *nothing* to do with the cost, and *everything* to do with honoring and respecting that the Scuderia Ferrari Targa is for Ferrari cars that are either campaigned by the Factory race teams, or a special track-oriented limited production car. This is not related to who made the car, but who campaigned it -- which is why you'll see some older Alfas with the shields. For those that feel this way, every road-going Ferrari whose owner has spec'd shields has cheapened and sullied the very meaning of this hallowed emblem.
Of course, not everyone feels this way and simply order them 'cause they look pretty.
    Whatever floats yer boat...

Just a note that Schumacher has shields on all of his cars as far as I can tell. As does Todt.

If this were even anywhere near true, Ferrari would simply not offer them.

I can't think of two people anywhere else on the planet more deserving than Schumacher and Todt of putting SF shields on their Ferraris -- or any other make of car for that matter!

As has been pointed out, I think the $1800 cost of the option multiplied by (I guess) around 4,000+ cars results in $7M of net profit. Easy gravy for them, and sufficient motivator to offer them. Note that they were not put on (or even offered) on the standard cars when Enzo ruled the roost.

i think the yellow 430 only looks good in certain countries i.e puerto buneus, LA etc...im england it looks crap because it always bloody rains. to enjoy a fewrrari you need to be in a country where the surroundings match it, i have a 360 spider i get people spitting at the car etc, however when i took the car to marbella people come up and shake your hand, as to say well done. Its a classic case of jealousy all i can say is that the english will always be the english!!
