I remember pulling a Carfax on this one when I was looking and the odometer readings were not correct, so I didn't pursue it, you may want to check that out.

No, I didn't since the Carfax had that issue, but I know they've had it for a while, at least 2 or 3 months, I bet they would let it go for a lot less. One thing that also turned me away was the non-functinal SV scoops.

Just keep in mind that the mileage issue shows as a problem with MANY of the pre 99 cars. Some people converted the KM's to miles when reporting, others reported the KM's. All it takes is one along the way for it to show as a problem on carfax, when in fact it is not a problem at all.

the mileages on carfax with respect to lambo's is really screwy because lambo's read in kilometers and carfax only takes miles.

    so,
often times the conversions are either done wrong, or Km's are inputed one time (appearing as higher mileage), then miles are put in the second time (appearing as lower mileage...a roll back i.e.), then Km's the next time, etc

making the numbers appear all screwy when in fact they're not

just my 2 cents based on what i've seen

I took it home two weeks ago for the weekend and it really is a great driver. The service was done in 2004 at Nelson. We took it in and put new cats on it. It has the original deck lid as well as the SV type that is on it now. It has the loudest exhaust of any Diablo I have heard; basically straight pipes with cats. Awesome sounding car. The carfax mileage issue is indeed due to KM to MI conversions.

The least you have to worry about is Fox Valley selling a bad car. They are one of the most prestigous dealers out there.

On any 1999 and earlier Diablo that has the Km instead of Miles on the odometer, this usually is indeed a problem and seen very often. You as the purchaser of the car can get an attestation letter from the servicing dealer or DMV that made the mileage error and have it corrected in Carfax's database. I had to have this done on my Orange 6.0 because they added an extra digit to the odometer reading (Making it 13,355 instead of 1,335 that it really was). They usually fix the error once all the supporting documentation is in hand within a few days. Super easy fix.

Also to note, 2002 Murcielagos went back to the Km odometers, and in 2003 they went back to Miles. So, if you see this on a Murcielago it's no problem most of the time.

Hi Michael. On another subject, why are you guys advertising this car as a 97.5? Just curious. The 97.5's came with the variable valve timing engine management system, and an increase in hp from 492 to 530. Is that what this car has?

It looks like a very nice car by the way, I just don't understand the designation.

AJ - if I'm not mistaken, the only discrepancy for 97 vs. 97.5 is only the dual airbags and dash update - if I recall correctly, it is the transition from 97/97.5 to 98 MY that gets the 530HP upgrade, 18" wheels, and larger brembos with rotor/hat combo rather than solid rotors.

No, I owned a 97.5 with valve timing management, 530HP. There were not many, but I have seen 2-3 of them.

this car is questionable. i got the history through nelson auto group. engine was rebuilt (for unspecified reason), clutch wasn't changed and there is more to the story in the odometer discrepancy than just conversion b/w kilometers vs. miles.

it's doubtful fox valley was aware of these issues if they are indeed reputable folks.

This car used to be owned by Allan-Lambo. (I'll spell it out al-lan-lamb-o incase it's a banned word. ;)).

He mentioned specifically if anyone has questions on this car that they can ask him. PM me for his contact email/AIM if you are a serious buyer of the car. He states it was in great condition -- I would believe him.

New clutch on a 1992 Diablo? No surprise there. Engine rebuilt? That I have no clue about.

interesting, ben. small world, indeed. the car was also owned last by the former CEO of LEER (james something...).

the clutch is original as far as the records are concerned. there is no documentation of the clutch being replaced. the engine was definitely rebuilt per nelson auto group...(they did the rebuilt work and have record of the work).

the car could very well be solid; however, whoever bot it should factor in the cost of replacing the clutch. btw, it was sold yesterday to someone.

ps: thanks ben for the generous offering (i used it 3 times...already :D)

If the car was owned by Allan, then most likely the car rarely went fast. Check to see if their is a lot of wear along the drivers side top of the door. It looks cool to drive around with your arm, on top of the door (with the windows down).

    BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

Actually, that may be a clue as to why the engine was rebuilt ... considering Allan's love for NOS powered Lambos ...

I spoke with Allan on this car, he has been proactive in helping set the story straight on it.

The car has an Al Burtoni clutch installed. It was an upgrade for him at the time, and was just installed when he got the car. The car never had any nitrous installed. He did experimented alittle with that car. We advanced the cams, full exhaust, air filters, installed a switch to turn off the a/c compressor etc. It was the strongest running early running Diablo at the time.

my wife and I went down to Naperville riverwalk -low and behold very loud(agressive sounding) ylw Diablo pulls into parking lot by "Samba Room". So I'm looking at clearly an early ylw 1990s diablo(with wing,SV engine lid and blk painted strip on front chin spoiler-young asian guy(maybe late 20s-early 30s) gets out with pretty blonde female passenger-very loud car even at idle-looked like this Lambo was well taken care of-very nice Diablo!!!!
