    Hi guys, I'm looking at buying a car which is located in Boston M.A. Being in Oz it's a bit tricky buying things sight unseen.

    Would anyone be able to go look at this car for me, not a full PPI or anything, just an honest appraisal, a couple of good pictures and meet the owner / seller and tell me if he seems to be a good bloke.

    Unfortunatley the seller hasn't responded back to me through the night here so I have no way to confirm if he's still interested, or if he's sold it locally as all l have is an email address.

    I'll keep you posted and if I establish communication again, I'll find out the locale. Looks like you won't need to take that Saturday morning drive David.

    It's actually a DeTomaso Pantera and is being sold by a fellow named Billy Mead. He operates a film and photographic hiring business and has had a bunch of good cars so I'm sure someone knows him. SL65, Gallardo, Murcialago, Noble M12, Pantera, Fez 360 amongst his collection.

    If anyone here knows him or the company can you let me know, jst want to check bonafides before sending over a wad of cash. I talked with him on the phone and he seems like a really nice bloke and very passionate about his cars, but it never hurts to ask you guys.

    I just did a Google street view search of that address, and I must say, I am bothered. Certainly looks to be in a trashy part of town, and not somewhere that you might run a very profitable business or two out of.

    He also lists these two web addresses as current businesses:

    www.filmstarrentals.com
    www.numediafactory.com

    When I called him he was on Ext 21, which indicates either a lot of phones in that place, or a phone diversion maybe. Is Boston 617 area code?

    He keeps the car(s) in the city?? Odd... Dot Ave is not the place for spotting exotics.

    With eclectic cars such as a Noble, and Lambos, I'm surprised to not know of him...

    No residential info? Just the 617 number?

    I'm certainly getting mixed messages inside my head.

    His filmstarrentals website shows a nice new looking warehouse store, but then lists 488 Dorchester Ave as the address. Google street view shows an old transport yard at that address. Then you read further into the website and it lists all this personal stuff about 'our founder' Billy Mead.

    I did a reverse lookup on the Boston phone number and it does come up to the 536 Dorchester Ave, South Boston, MA address so that checks out. But there must be a warehouse as shown in the website image somewhere? His cell phone number is from an address somewhere in Cambridge. M.A.

    I wonder how old the Boston street view Google images actually are. I located an image that appears to be the same buildings as the old trucking yard that can be seen on Google street view at 488 Dorchester Avenue, but now it appears that the entire site has been cleaned up, factory painted, trees trimmed. Very nice and tidy now. Or is it a photoshopped picture? There certainly appears to have been some creative work at play with the image as the two storey apartment buldings behind the shed appear to have vanished.

    Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it is the other side of the World and not a purchase from an authorised Ferrari dealer or anything.

    Looks like he planned a renovation, using CGI effects... He must do a lot of business with the few movies filmed locally each year??

    If you like, I am about 10 or 15 minutes outside of boston... I can meet up with the seller to see if he is legit... I have done this for a few M3 owners and don't mind checking out a Pantera...

    Let me know, I can grab my Nikon D50 and take some hi res images for you
