Hi guys...... If anyone is looking for a 355 spyder....I was offered a '99, Black, F1, 7K miles, just serviced (major), books/tools/records, mint. PM me.
+1........I had E-Gear on my Gallardo and while its ok there is nothing better than a 6 speed on a high performance car.
I would bet that most who speak poorly of the Ferrari F1 system have never actually driven one. I myself used to diss it until I drove it. I love mine now.
I find that no matter how much I love clacking through that gate, heel & toeing, etc........I am much faster with F1 boxes.
There is a 99 "F" here in toronto for sale red/blk 2nd owner boks and records complete and up to date service its number 99 out of 100....great condition...6 speed...a little high in price, but you could neg i would think...145CDN
If anyone wants pics......I have them. PM me your email address. I just eyeballed the car and it is MINT!
I hear you, and agree....up to a point. I love shifting, and there is nothing more rewarding than double clutching down through the box, matching revs....and getting it right......as you attack your favorite road or track. I was totally against the whole F1 thing when it arrived on the scene, but I got to spend a little time in a 360 Challenge car, and the first time I tried it, I was 2 seconds a lap quicker than I was in a standard gearbox car......and I know what I am doing (I am an FCA instructor, and have a fair amount of time in alot of race cars). Once I learned the techniques that work best for me in an F1 car...left foot braking, etc.....I am so much quicker with the F1 cars. If you are about your speed over a given stretch of road or track......the F1 car wins. Both are great, and require different skill sets, in order to get the best from them. But there is a reason that they use this technology in F1....because it is faster. I will always have a true manual Ferrari, just because it is classic.....its an anacronism, but it is fun. If you embrace the technology for what it is, and learn how to use it........you will love it.
Call me old fashioned buy i still like the 5/6 speed gear box. A mate has had major problems with an early model 355 F1, in the years to come I think ppl will pay a premium to own a 6 speed box over the F1 shift. Having said that I drove a 430 F1 recently and it was mind blowing, the F1 shift has come a long way since the 355. Andrew
I disagree with this. I have a 360 F1 and a 335F1. They both work very well, but you still have to drive them like a stick, they are not automatics. In fact I think the 355 is better in heavy traffic than the 360 system and the 360 is slightly faster shifting under WOT. I understand that peaple may have a personal preference of one over the other, but those who knock the F1 system saying it does not work well, well they are just wrong.
