    The local John Deere dealer has been running some specials that I finally couldn't resist so I plunked down a $40k deposit on a new tractor. It wouldn't be a big deal to finance the balance since I'm already approved but I'd rather not.

    If any of you are in a position to move quickly on a GT4 I'd be willing to give someone a great deal on mine. (tire-kickers and those who don't have any cash please go bother someone else) For those of you who don't know my car (are there any?) it is an all original Dino badged series 1 in red with the tan "suede" interior and series 1 wheels. Service records go back over a couple of decades.

    Drop me a note if you'd like to strike a deal.

    Tractors MAKE me money. I'll still have my other Ferrari, the 6, the Rolls, etc. I just don't like financing stuff even at 1.9%. It's a "thing" of mine, I like the balance sheet to show all assets and no liabilities.

    Hey, this is going the 'wrong way' but a little car lot on W. 11th has THREE Triumphs, I spotted a TR4 and a TR6, but Valeria said there was third one......

    Oh I don't have to sell it. If I don't I'll bite the weenie and finance 25k or so. H$ll I've done enough business with the local dealer that after I gave them $40k as a deposit they delivered the tractor and told me they'd worry about the balance on the 28th of the month. (it pays to have good credit)

    How much will you miss the GT4 when it's gone, vs. that whole asset and debt balance peace of mind?

    Wonder who that is who is selling/working on the TRs. When I lived in Houston I never really got out to that part of town -- maybe once or twice in the three-plus years. (I was a Bellaire/West U/Galleria-area guy.) But I was a TR guy during that time, too. Possible one of the shops has come across a few cars to sell, I suppose.

    I'm like you, though...I don't like loans. I decided about 12 years ago, though, that sometimes I could use the bank on MY TERMS -- so that I could borrow for something and pay it back quickly just to keep funds around.

    In fact, the first loan I ever got was for a car I sold about 90 minutes ago! Wife got a new car last week, so today I sold the one I bought her right before we got married.

    agree. i want another 308, but i am in the $25k range, where i am comfortable with the driver class cars i dont have to pamper. when my 85 targa sells, i will be able to get another.

    And at 1.9% you'd be silly/dissapointed to depart with your car Dave although I agree a 100% with your comments regarding balance sheet. We are however at 8.5-9% over here if that makes the decision any easier. :D

    Yep, a person who doesn't have that mind set just won't understand.

    Even though I'm willing to sell this car at below market price I doubt many are in a position to do a deal by the 28th. If so they'll own a nice, honest, no suprizes, original GT4 for great dollars and I'll have a 70k Deere paid for; if not I'll borrow 25 or 30k, pay it off by May or June, have a 70k paid for Deere, and still own my GT4. No skin off me; I win either way, I just have to live with my balance sheet and work harder in option #2 and frankly I'd rather hang out with my hot looking wife than work harder.

    Naw, man....the Florist is right next door to the Cut Rate Cleaners, so it works out in one stop.

    Another florist is closer to my apartment so I use them if my clothes are not ready.....I'm getting so cheap these days, ten blocks driving makes a difference! LOL!

    That is called FRUGAL, not cheap. At least not in this economy and from someone who has to maintain a Ferrari on a beer budget!!! (Like me!)
