Im not near that area but that car is interesting. I beleive it was on ebay for a while but didnt sell(obviously). Looks great in the pics but 120K miles is 120K miles. If it checks out mechanically then its probably an OK car but should you decide you want out it will be a very tough sell. And, regardless of the cars service history, you have to assume that in the not too distant future there will be engine parts that get tired. Plan accordingly.

This car can be a good value and a strong buy....IF the price is right. The market isnt exactly sizzling right now,, take a look at whats out there and how many are NOT selling. For the right price, by all means look into it.

yeah, why is it for sale already AND you are trying to buy it at the same time ?

Damm, I saw the ad first and I was ready to look into it but then I saw the posts here and I just no longer feel comfortable looking at it...too bad because mileage puts it in my price range. Motor work I can handle.

Hmmm ... well, the OP asked on 7/3 and didn't get any immediate replies, but the ad wasn't posted on FerrariAds until 7/11. It's possible that the car was purchased during the intervening time and is being quickly flipped. Cblck, can you fill us in on the details? Otherwise, people may start to presume the worst.

BTW, an older discussion of (I think the same) car was on another thread, called "1983 308 QV...is this just too many miles??? ":

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289821

There was some speculation in that thread that an appropriate price for the car would more likely be under $20K, as well as mention that its title history shows accident/damage via a "front impact with another vehicle" in 1992. It spent close to two decades in Florida and only recently moved to TN. If it may also be in need of an engine rebuild soon, even worse.

One would expect that, in light of that earlier discussion, this would be a poor target for flipping. OTOH, an unsuspecting buyer who's now found out more about the car could be anxious to move it to someone else's hands .... But that is all just evil speculation without cblck's input on what's really going down, so maybe he can clear this up for everyone and set us straight?

I actually started the other thread about this car asking about the miles and such. It was on e-bay for a while buty didnt get a single bite. Funny thing is the car is now on e-bay and is shown as being in Florida! The seller claims his wife flipped out when he came home with it and now has to sell it. What a freegin mess. Whats the damned story with this car? It might be an OK car for the right price but is it in Tennessee or Florida? Whats the scoop? Geesh.....

The car needs to be priced lower, IMO.

As Vince Lombardi once asked his players: "What the hell is going on out there!!!???"

Wow, I just signed in and cant believe all the concern over this car. I did just buy the vehicle last weekend, after checking out top to bottom and am very satisfied with it. Unfortunately, my wife absolutely flipped out when I showed up at home with it, I should point out that I have 2 other Ferraris already that I rarely drive. I checked it out thoroughly and am absolutely confident in its strength. In an effort to stay married, I have however, agreed to sell it, I am more than happy to share all my findings of the car both good and bad with any interested parties, along with the results of the compression check etc etc., I beg anyone that is actually interested to look it over til the cows come home and get to know the car intimately before making a decision, I insist upon selling to someone who will be happy with it. The car has near perfect compression, no leaks, perfect tranny movement through all the gears, tight steering and suspension, braking etc etc. In fact I can find zero fault with the car mechanically. All the minor issues seem to be cosmetic related stuff that my eye cant even discern. the car has 2 penny size rust spots in the lower fenders and a minor ding in the hood where the strut wasnt depressed prior to closing. The center caps and carpeting are slightly, slightly faded, I have been told the car has been repainted, though well enough that I certainly cant discern it, I have owned 3 of these, and looked at countless, so I do know some of the trouble spots and this is one of the great ones. As for "flipping" it, obviously that isnt why I bought it, I am happy to show what I paid to interested parties, and am looking to break even

also, yes I started a thread to have someone check it out for me and ultimately did go buy it last weekend, not sure why that raises anyone's suspicion? I picked it up in TN and it is now in Fl. If it makes anyone feel better, at the risk of sounding arrogant, I am not an idiot, I am a 20+ year Ferrari owner and enthusiast and know 308's very well, if the car wasnt righteous, I assure you it would not be sitting in my garage now, I give cars scrutiny on a level most would find obsessive compulsive before pulling the trigger. If anyone has interest, please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns, but lets govern ourselves with a little more restraint in this forum and not imply someone is "flipping" " reselling junk" etc etc without any pertinent facts, I will not allow my integrity or agendas to be brought into question by anyone, thanks.

No worries... it just all seemed weird at first. There is someone here that is expecting to see the car in Tennessee when they are out that way next week. Just a case of a car being listed and then quickly sold and then relisted on ebay right away. Nothing against you at all - just some timing issues with ads, inspections, etc, etc.

    All good. :)

Cblck, thanks for sharing your side of the story--like I said before, we needed you to fill us in to stop any "evil speculation" (mine included). I'm also sorry if I offended you with my post. The only reason I mentioned "flipping" was because, in the absence of any other information, that's probably one of the first things people might think if they see someone buy a car and immediately relist it for sale. So don't take it as a personal accusal--I was just expressing what the most obvious first thoughts would be for such a situation (and, unfortunately, the obvious ones are fairly negative) ... and I was hoping you'd be back to tell us that was all wrong and give us the *real* scoop. Thanks.

Also, I'm sorry you went through all that work and now have to turn around and sell her. At least you now have a better view for what condition this car is in than the speculation in the other thread, which should be very valuable if anyone here starts looking at her.

over market by $5k or so. the yellow QV would be a better buy at the same price.

none of these cars are selling for nosebleed prices right now. boats and small aircraft are worse off than sports cars!
