Hi, Anyone ordered a F458 Italia? Just wondering if potential owners are immune to the global credit crunch. I thought the F430 was good, but this new model seems perfect
i do not have one on order but u have to assume that yes some people are immune or are very little affected by the economy.
There's a rather long and sometimes heated thread in the 458 section on this subject. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262971 My understanding through my dealer is that no deposits or orders can be made until the middle of next year. Your dealer may vary!
This is from an article from MSN Auto: "Ferrari's 2009 California, with its front-mounted V8 engine and folding hardtop, excited buyers so much that it dropped sales of the superlative F430 in the toilet, as the rich and shameless were enticed by something new from the house of the Prancing Horse."
This is interesting, the dealer in Korea still hasn't got the full options list + pricing. As for the original question, there are plenty of people who are not severely affected by current global conditions and who have, at the very least, put down deposits on the 458. Another example is that of the 599 'GTO'; at least several people on these forums have a deposit down for this.
Luck you! I will contact my local dealer (HR Owen in London) and ask a few questions. My feeling is that all new creations from Maranello sell for premiums and have waiting lists.
+1 On that. They're completely different types of cars. Reading the last part of the statement, it appears to be a dig at those that can afford such cars from a jealous journalist to Me.
I currently have a F430. I love the car. The dealer in xalled me to see if I wanted to place an order for the 458 and make a deposit. The deposit was for $50k and a june 2010 delivery. So at least in the states and apwcifically Florida they are taking limited orders based on car slots avialable. I have used this dealer alot and I have found them trustworthy. Lee
It is usual that Asia Pacific is slow to get the full options list and pricing. The first cars are already being spec'd without the benefit of that. We all know more or less what everything costs. The first Californias arrived before pricing was finalised. Pricing has no impact on my spec. I know exactly what I want and don't care all that much if the temperature/tyre pressure system costs $x or $y - I want it. I guess if I wanted an exotic paint colour I might be more interested but even on that 599 or 16M is a good guide on pricing of options
They've only just specced their demo cars for delivery in June No doubt they already have a long list and I'm pretty sure other UK dealers have already started collecting deposits
Time to visit the dealer then! Although Korea is a small market so everything is quite slow.. although that small market does spend quite heavily.
I believe it is Ferrari's best intention to have their first vehicles arrive in June but it may look like July or August. Besides, they're coming out with carbon goodies for those who can wait.
I'll bet the 458 spider is going to be spectacular! I'd like to get in line if they are not already sold out.
Well, I spoke with my area Dealer today and June was the word. I have a feeling July will see quite a few 458's in showrooms across the country... Still quite a ways off though... _J
Money is like energy, never lost, just changed hands. So in the end somewhere, someone got rich and he's getting the 458 for sure.
