    Take a look at this thread--> http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=139206545&highlight=x-ost#post139206545

    In any case, judging a car's exhaust note from a video is always very difficult. Many important aspects of a a car's sound are lost during the recording. Needless to say that exhaust notes are also very subjective.
    There is no substitute for hearing an exhaust for yourself (I know it isn't always possible).

    Personally, I am big fan of the 599's stock exhaust with the valves left open. I think it suits the car very well. In fact, it seems to get better will the mileage...now that she has about 40,000kms (24K miles), the exhaust sounds better than ever. It produces pops, crackles and sometimes even some brutally unapologetic explosions when downshifting above 4K rpm. When the mood strikes, on full throttle it will fill any tunnel from end to end. However, at the same time, when driven gently the car remains very civilized. I could not imagine doing 1500kms in one day with many of the aftermarket options on offer.

    Having the valves left permanently open allows you to enjoy the V12's glorious symphony at all RPMs even at moderate throttle loads. For a modest price, you could also have your dealer install a switch that controls the valves (in one positions they are always open and in the other they return to the standard settings).

    Of course these are all personal preferences that may vary depending on tastes and the way one uses the car.

    Carlo, I found it simple to open the valves on my CS and scud because ease of access through engine bay. Is it as simple on the 599?

    Joe- I honestly don't know.
    Our car has switch installed under the steering column that controls the valves (installed by the dealer).

    Hi Carlos,

    I have unplugged the valves and left them permanently opened. You do get more sound at low revs..ie..below 3500rpm..but above that it is the same as stock. The car is more enjoyable with a low growl now at idle and slow speeds. Definitely better than stock IMO but it is still much quieter than what I am expecting. Am wondering if the new Novitec 599 GTO exhaust would fit a GTB

    Likely the same as the GTB version.
