. >Do you ever see a sad guy driving a Ferrari? No, the sad guy is the guy who has a Ferrrari in the garage that is no running.
The guy that kept putting off the Ferrari purchase, until he/she couldn't drive anymore. At least the guy with the non-running Ferrari can go sit in it and make "Vrooom-Vroom" noises. Sid
yeah in my head imagine that dealer service bays have a leather chesterfield sofa, wire up the customer to a heart scan and have his hand held by a fake sexy nurse, as he first gobbles down a couple of statins, before the service prognosis is revealed in a sealed envelope, with a support councillor number printed at the bottom.

My search continues and is challenging even with all your help. THAMK YOU AGAIN ALL. Please keep the leads coming. I have expanded my search to include late model QVs. Though I am still interested I am discovering that the T parts are a lot more expensive than the 3.2 and QVs.
Dom If a guy named Steve (Tman) contacted you about the possibility of selling his t coupe, I would jump all over that car. No idea what he wants nor was I aware he would even part with it (shocked actually) but I had the chance to meet him and drive it while my T was being service by Dave Helms (SRI) in Colorado. Dave serviced his car as well and I have to tell you, he's put a lot of $$$$ into his car to make it perfect. He's the only one I know on the planet that has almost as much in his as I do mine. Good luck with your search Ted
Guys, if I didn't have Rachel, and wanted a Mondial T, Steve Sutley's beautiful 89 T coupe would already be in my garage. This is a car that has been shown so much "owner and Helms" love and attention - well - - it's almost pornographic. (just trying to emphasize a point here). Go to Youtube and type in "Ferrari Mondial T Coupe". It's a "Forza Friday" production, with Steve introducing his T coupe. Added treat, you'll love the sound, as well. Cheers, Hank
That was one of the videos that made me buy my 3.2 a year ago. Looks and sounds beautiful and the message I took away was "service them well and they'll still look and sound beautiful with 87k miles on too" !
Great video of a great car, and one that I'll watch again and again! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhC8tDO4UX4[/ame]
Ive drove that car through the foothills of Boulder Co this past February. The intention was to feel what a perfectly tuned 3.4 is supposed to feel like so i could compare it to mine before going in to SRI for the same treatment. Mine came out even better . So, Its exactly what a Mondial coupe is supposed to be. Well sorted and well loved by a hand wringing perfectionist and just a great guy. Apparently it may be for sale, to the right person. Youll be interviewed by him if you are interested, as its not going to just anyone. I promised mine to Dave Helms.
Hi wade, could it be something to do with first road registration? My 3.2 Mondial (#78424) is also listed as a '89 3.2 but was build in August 1988. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have had my fair share of convertibles and still own the best one I ever had - a 1965 Corvair Monza that will not blow my cowboy hat off even at 80 mph. However, I prefer my Mondial in the coupe version. And I appreciate the subtleties of my Prugna Metallica paint. Specifically, I am nearly convinced, and have reason to believe, it was a special build. Its time-to-speed numbers simply do not remotely match the published data.
just ran across a higher mile 89 T coupe on auto trader classis. May have been discussed here before, but thought someone was looking for a T coupe
RE: Video If this guy is correct about $10k-12k for a belt job I would not touch that car. Why? My local wrench, who never worked on a Ferrari replaced the scattered clutch in my 3.2 for $2k labor then asked me if he could do my belts! As if it would be an afternoon job! And several more things about this video. First, the gated shifter. It is an entirely cosmetic application. The shifter is very heavily springed to center and there is no way to miss a shift. If you do? Remove the gate. As for power shifts? Its something I have never done. However, my 1986 3.2 has a power train feel very similar to my 1984 Z-28. The clutch is a bit heavier, and the synchros are a bit more 'forward' in the 3.2 but shifting time is about equal to that old 'muscle' car. I bang shift it in the same way with the same results when I am so inclined. Having read the hp and torque specs for the 3.4 I suspect it is a more driver friendly engine. Not only does it have more hp, it also has a torque peak one thousand rpms lower then the 3.2. That would make it a more sprightly daily driver. However, I own a Prugna Metallica coupe and I would like to drag race a 3.4! Why? I suspect I own a special build. I have been silly about this but I have done many many runs from 60mph incicated to 120mph incicated [54-112 actual] and my times simply make no sense given the published data. In addition, I have actual 1/8 mile times on my 220 hp Max at 71mph. This is interesting because I have a local up-hill run I use for all my cars and the Maxx crosses the line at about 71mph. The Mondial, using the TACH at 7,700 rpms is about 90mph. So how do I explain this? First, I suspect it is a loose build because the oil gets really black really early. Second, I suspect my car has more cam. That would explain the 90-120 indicated superiority of this engine. I mean by a LOT. Many seconds faster then published data. Perhaps close to half the published data. I am not making that up. However, I have recently had another spark of inspiration. Specifically, my car was delivered with so much carbon build up it took thousands of miles to clean it out. I knew that clean-up was effective when the car became seriously faster in the above described uphill run. It increased by about 10 mph on that simulated 1/8 mile run. Carbon build up is variable with cam timing. In the old days [like 30-35 years ago] the rule was to keep your Porche or Jag, for instance, above 3,000 rpms. Those were two valve engines and not up to Ferrari QV designs. But I suspect the same rule applies to my particular engine. I suspect it has more cam then was installed in the red ones. And perhaps the other colors. [How many Prugnas are there? I have heard of four or five.] What other differences might there be? I have seen many photos of exhaust headers that look like crud. What do mine look like? They look clean and solid and smooth even at 56,000 miles. Well, I bought this car to drive the hell out of it and my car seems to like me after two years and 11,000 miles. Right now it is sitting in my car port awaiting my local wrench to finish up my Mark VII and then do knee surgery on the Mondial for which I have four new CV joints. All of the CV boots are cracked and I bought four new complete units for him to swap out. In the mean time one of those CV joints is now making a noise. So my Prugna Metallica Ferrari and me are temporarily bereft! I understand if my posts are tiresome on this subject to my fellow F people. But I bought an F car to find out what it might be about these cars and perhaps I have become beguiled!
David, good luck with your mechanic, I hope he's able to do what's necessary on your car in the future. No it will not cost me $10K-$12K for my next service. I threw that number out there for someone who would probably need more work than just a belt change (like most (all) of them do). Mine is a "completely fixed" car to the point where I am on a 7 year major service interval. As mentioned only one person is allowed to touch my car. One very special person. As I explained the gated shifter is not a Hurst 4 speed but you can get quite quick with this type of shifter, but if someone thinks they can shift these cars like a '65 Goat he's crazy. I had a '65 Goat, I know. And hey way to go with your special build, it sounds like your car runs like a bat out of hell.
Any one here buy the Houston T coupe? Dang, saw it listed Autotrader yesterday and didnt copy the link it was at $25K now its not up anymore
