I have a great opportunity to get into a 458 but my 430 would have to go due to garage space. I love the 430 for what it is, but understand the 458 is newer and superior. I don't have a ton of seat time in the 458, but seems like a very capable car. Anyone that regretted going to 458 from well sorted 430. I also have S line exhaust and headers so the sound may be hard to match with the 458 and is a big part of driving the car and experience for me.

    I don’t know if I’d trade a 3 pedal 430 for a 458, but paddles, definitely

There is a great Top Gear youtube video with Jeremy comparing the 458 to the 430 back around 2010 or so. I watched that video just before I planned on buying a 430 or a 458. There was no way I was going with a 430 after that. Having said that, if I had a manual 430, I would keep it. But I would not sell a 458 to go back to a 430 for the converse.

I had a 430 and 458 at the same time. I rarely drove the 430 so I traded it for a Huracan. No regrets.

I have both and love them for different reasons. The 458 would be considered the better car by all metrics that you judge non Ferrari cars with. But……the 430 is more primitive, primal and seems to have more passion in it so to me no answer on which is best. It’s like picking a favorite kid if you have two. The one your with is your favorite at the time.

I know this might or might not work but can you put a lift in your garage to add the extra car?
I have a 3 car garage but with my lift, I have 4 cars in there.
    Just a thought........

A 458 with S-Line exhaust sounds better than an F430 with an S-Line. If anything, they sound kind of similar.

    I'd not trade a gated F430 for a 458, but a 0addle shift? Without even thinking twice.

Yes when driving back to back I felt the 430 was more dramatic and visceral. I really don't want to part with it.
may have to just sell the m3.

Yeah - Sound is subjective, my F430 has headers and S line and it definitely screamed more than the spider I drove with Kline. In fairness the 458 did not have any of cats deleted, and when you do headers on the 430 you loose the primary cat. 458 would sound similar I am sure once you loose a cat. I think the F1 gets a pad reputation as many of the systems are not maintained. Properly running set up F1 is a rewarding gearbox and still shifts fairly quick. Both cars are fantastic. The 458 is much more dynamic and daily friendly in my opinion.

That makes a big difference. Put headers and cat deletes on a 458 and it will do the same. Capristo headers and cat deletes along with an S-Line box, and you are there.

Brother, it seems this isn’t a question anymore if 430 vs 458, but a question of M3 vs 430. In this case no question should you sell the BMW 3-Series car and keep the 430 and add a 458.

For daily driving, the 458 can be daily driven just as easily as an M3. Trunk space is quite large. As long as you don’t need a back seat, no reason to keep the M3!

Keep the 430 F1 and sell the M3. Then buy a F430 manual and pass on the 458...

Hard to go wrong. I owned a 430 for 2 years and almost 10k miles and traded for a 458 about 3 years ago and 10k miles. I made the switch because of the single clutch transmission. It was too clunky most of the time and I did not like how it took forever to disengage and then reengage and half the time you lost traction. The dual clutch to me is that much better. Its still visceral in the sense that it bangs you when you shift under a load where my F12 does not (nor the Huracan that I drove).

This was my feelings as well. While i LOVED my 430 spyder, especially since it was my first Ferrari and loved those hard F1 shifts in comparison the 458 feels like a completely different car. It's so much more capable, and that dual clutch is just fantastic. Also the reliability in the 458 is dramatically improved over the 458, no clutch to change and services are pretty much fluids.

Like many others suggested here sell the M3, and keep em both if you can swing it. I often think about getting a F430 spyder as well as my 458

This makes zero sense to me. Yes if it was a Scud, but not a regular F430. I can't imagine ever grabbing the keys for the F1 car if there's a gated next to it. The combo of a gated 430 and 458 offers a nice difference.

I went from the a f430 spider to a 458 spider with no regrets. FAR better car and in every way, it may not be as raw but 458 is perfect for what it is.
I ended up selling 458 for speciale that I never got and now missed the boat on, but added a 360 gated coupe while with the 458. Then sold the 360 gated and now have a 430 gated. So even with a 430 spider gated I still want a 458(speciale) to add. To me both these combo check every box except a V12 engine. Gated, spider, coupe, raw, special series, NA, v8 these 2 check all the boxes for me

In your case...if your car is F1 your not gonna miss it in the 458. But if you car is gated... I would add a 458.

Or a more crude but effective solution - Rent a Storage Space for around $300/month and put the one you are not driving in there - swap them out - keep the one you are driving at home but you can grab the other one pretty much any time. Not optimal but if the only reason you are considering getting rid of the 430 for a 458 is "at home" garage space and not financial etc. then if the lift option is not feasible I would simply get a storage space. Worst case if you decide you want to sell off the 430 if you end up not driving it (or I supposed the inverse) then you sell the car and bail on the storage space - no harm/no foul/no $$ commitment or investment. Heck I have four of them! :)

    Just a thought - Cheers

I went from a 360 spider to a 430 spider to a 458 spider and loved all of them. I never keep cars longer then 3 years, but this 458 changed all that and I have no intention of getting rid of it. Awesome car and really a step up from the 430.

I very much regret selling my three pedal F430 but I needed to pay my employee's. I enjoyed very much the F430 and even tried to buy it back several times. If it were the F-1, I would have been happy trading when the time was right, economically.
