Hey eveyone, was wondering if anyone is running run flats on their 355. If so, how do you like them compared to regular tires. What size are you running (since they don't make run flats in stock 355 sizes). Would love to put some on if they arent a perfomance compromise since I plan on using the car as a daily driver and don't want to order the euro spare tire kit (and give up my precious luggage space. Have had good experience with them on my mini cooper S. Thanks in advance for your help.

I love them on my 5 series BMW, I'm not sure they make them in the sizes needed for a 355. Also you would probably need a TPM system installed.

You should do some research on them.. try Tirerack.com

I was going to get them for my S class MB but after I spoke with a few people, my Ferrari mechanic, and read up on them I decided not to do it. I wanted the ability to not have to keep a spare and be able to drive in case I needed to get out of a certain situation. What I found out was that you lose a great deal of performance using run flats. They weigh more and are a stiff ride. To me, I wasn't willing to make my ride less safe so that I could be more safe if I had a flat tire.

I would never consider them for a Ferrari unless they improve design. My Ferrari mechanic convinced me of this.

I'll talk to tire rack, but I suspected as much (too much of a compromise). Was just hoping that run flat tec had evolved enough by now (given they are on the later model corvettes). thanks for the feedback.

To maintain their structural integrity without air pressure, they have much stiffer sidewalls. Stiffer sidewalls means less flex, less flex means they don't hold the road as well, especially in cornering. On top of all of this, it makes them very loud when cornering. Overall I would not put them on a performance car, I think you may end up regretting it. Good luck on whatever decision you make.

A lot of the Corvette guys swear by getting rid of the original run-flats at the first opportunity (for the reasons stated by Mr Joker above).

I have a C5 corvette. It had run-flats. The external tire compounds are pretty soft and grippy. As mentioned they are heavy and do not perform/handle as well. You are better off without them, Scott

I think the unfortunate thing is that tire manufacturers will look at the sales numbers and determine that there isn't much interest in a run-flat tire. So, instead of spending more on R&D, they will spend less and that's why they are low performance tires. I'd buy them in a second if they got the performance correct....

I have run flats on my wifes minivan and had them on my mini cooper S. I hate them. Like people said, they are loud, super stiff and uncomfortable and don't corner well. On a ferrari a can of run flat and a cell phone is a much better option.

    my $.02 :)

This is not true. In fact, its the opposite as track tires have significantly stiffer sidewalls than street tires. The last thing you want is your sidewall flexing when you are driving at the limit.
