Hey guys, Looking for a car for school, something between $10-15k, FWD or AWD preferably, under 50k miles, manual transmission (stick), relatively fun and not too hard on the insurance... Some cars that I've considered: Saab 9'3 2 door Subaru Legacy GT Acura RSX VW GTI/Jetta etc... Doesn't have to be those cars, just something along those lines... Anyone? Any leads are much appreciated! -Kenny (edit: trying to stay away from the Honda Civic, Accord and Toyota Camry..)
Hey Kenny, give me 18 for my civic. That way i can get my SRT-4. She's a beast, Ferraris are so afraid of her they just speed up and get away, or that just may mean they're a lot faster than I am.
Thank you very much but trying to stay away from the Honda Civic, 50% of my friends have them and it'd be nice to be a bit different...
Spoke to Kenny a little while back about this one. The Z3 is Yellow first of all he said and it was just waiting for trouble. And he also said the car is so light that it does not get anywhere in the snow and even sometimes in the rain. Sounds like a great car for our area
Yep, Keith pretty much nailed it-- plus the car has absolutely no room for any type of storage, I wouldn't be able to bring clothes home for a weekend or take friends on a field trip- need something more practical...
We've loved our A8L...automotive luxury perfection... Look at Nissan Maximas. Best V6 engine out there, unexpectedly fast, especially with a 5-speed (seriously...it's way faster than any of the cars you're thinking of). They're pretty accomodating, good gas mileage, and reliable...look into it...
We had an Audi A6 2.8 Avant that was an absolute lemon- figured it was a fluke but then a friend with an A4 2.8 had the same trouble as well as his dad with an A6 2.7t and another friend with an A8-- they're great for the first 20k miles- then they fall apart.
Ouch! Sounds like my old Mercedes. I had a 2000 SL500 and it went through 3 transmissions; and the car was AUTOMATIC. Also had problems with the electric soft top, sometimes it did not want to go up. There are MANY other problems but the list just gets WAY to long.
Quite the opposite here.. We basically share cars with our next door neighbor (they might as well be my second parents)- they've had 3 SL500's in the past 10 years, the newest being the Silver Arrow-- all absolutely perfect, no problems whatsoever.. They've also went through 2 ML3xx series (a 320 and now a 350) and because of their great luck, my mom got a C320 Wagon- again, flawless... Weird
I know it is VERY weird. They are hit or miss it seems. Well I will stick with BMW when we talk about cars like that. Mercedes is nice and all but I prefer BMW even though I only like one car from them now because of their stupid shape changes (M3).
Towards the end of college I'd like to get the '02 M Roadster (315hp, 0-60 in 4.5)- the 3.0L I drive now is really an incredible car- the extra 90hp and stiffened suspension would be welcomed though... Back on topic, who has a car for me!?
How about this as a daily beater? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2481549966#ebayphotohosting
Too late. sombody else thought so too. it's gone. I have the same car, without the engine. Would have been neat to see how the extra power affects the car.
