I have the dreaded Getrag weep hole leak ... out of warranty. I am getting a quote from the local independent, but I see there are some shops that specialize in these transmissions and wondering if anyone has some recommendations or experiences to avoid? Spoke to Exoticars in NJ and they seemed knowledgeable about the problem. Hoping the clutch itself is still okay, no errors or weird shifting, just started leaking.

How heavy is your leak? A little 'sweat' seen thru the weep hole is normal. A steady dripping when the transmission is pressurized is not

I think that determining the source of the leak is best done by a Ferrari dealer who has an experience with on -site repairs

My car developed a leak after being rear ended

We determine that the seal in the middle case had been nudged out of place.

Fortunately all of the mechanicals were perfectly intact. There were also no DcT error codes

At that time Ferrari and Gettag did not offer a repair kit and I was forced to buy a new box

I did keep my original box and about 18 months later, a repair kit was offered

So i had my dealer replace the middle case with the seals and sensors. The box was inspected and tested. It was perfect. (Ive now got it as a back-up)

Yhese DCT boxes are generally very robust . I have about 70K miles on the first and now 70k miles on the second! Yes ive got 143K miles on the 458

Awesome. I thought I was doing well at 33k miles ;)

I meant to post this in the California forum as mine is a 2015 T but it's the same Getrag box. My leak is substantial, that internal seal has let go, it drips when it runs. I don't have a quote yet from my local shop (I'm confident he knows how to fix them) but if it's substantially higher than sending it off to a specialist on a truck, I may opt for that. I'm sure it would be even more expensive at the dealer.

How cool - thanks for sharing. I drive PCH/Malibu canyons quite a bit, will have to keep an eye out for a Nero Daytona 458 spider!

    Cheers to many more miles

I think you should post this in the California section
The DCT and gear ratios and electronic s are not interchangeable- 458 vs California.

(I owned a California and I learned a lot about the Cali Dct issues)

A shrewd business decision might ve to let your F Dealer bid to do your work since your car is out of the warranty period. They might he alot closer in price than you assume.

But if this is a daily driver and you need to get thongs sorted out quickly then that is also a factor
So always nice to know about the time to fix
