I thought I would take the time to post my first thread for the purpose of proving to myself that I am not alone in my despair. It is now the end of the first week in March in New England and Winter is about to snatch yet another small glimpse of hope for spring from my (our) grasp....another snow storm predicted for this week.

My lonely 328 (my wife calls the other woman) remains in heated storage three miles from my house on trickle charge, awaiting as eagerly as I for our springtime rendevouz. At least once a week I sneak away under the pretext of a "run to the store", or "going to work" to visit with my girl, roll her tires and even pop my head into the cockpit for a whiff of the "perfume" eminating from the leather.

I return home a guilty man. My wife has developed a keen sense for the smell of gasoline on my shirt and never fails to let me know that she knows where I have been. She says "that s--t eating grin" one my face can only be caused by one thing, and of course, she is always right. Until the thaw and remission of the frost heaves plaguing our local roadways, my fantasies of being behind the wheel must suffice until our reunion becomes a long-awaited reality.

In any event, I hope there are other out there who identify with my plight. After all, misery loves company.

Welcome - you are correct in not being alone in your plight. I did relieve mine today for the first time for quite a while. I chipped away the remainder of the ice away from Garage No. 2 and out came the CS. Managed a 100 miles and put it away dirty :) The joy of aluminum rather than Steel cars! I can happily leave it dirty for a few days without worrying unduly.

This winter does seem never ending. Plan was for cover to come off March 1st and start driving, That was a no go due to 7 inches of snow that day. At least I got out for a ride yesterday with my brother in his new 987S, That car is a huge improvement over the 2001 S I had. Roads are in horrible shape around here and I am now mapping out all the pot holes on my normal driving route.

I'm 8000 miles away from all of my cars and have no idea when the next time I'm even going to see them, let alone drive them. Stop complaining...

I guess your right, At least I can go out and sit in my car and smell that quality Italian leather and play with all those buttons to finally figure out my Nav. Plus much better than a year ago today when my car was somewhere in the middle of the ocean and I was going nuts waiting for it as the weather was getting nice. Did learn one thing yesterday while sitting in it with it partially covered and letting car run, filled with fumes rather quickly and started to get drowsy. At least would have answered that question in that thread of where I want to die

    Hell Ya,

just got a new 348 last week.............washed it, waxed it (4 coats of Zaino), installed new pedals...........I'm running out of things to do........too much salt and snow in Ohio.

Not to mention my wife and I are leaving for Scotland on the 21st for 2-1/2 weeks............I'll be losing my mind over there thinking about the F-car sitting in my garage!!

My car returns from BSC today, where it spent the winter having its major. I think it's going to be harder now, watching it sit in the garage while I wait for the snow to stop and the salt to be removed from the roads by rain. I guess I'll look for lots of little projects to give me the excuse to spend time with it. Of course, lots of little projects are never hard to find on a Ferrari!

Thanks to all for putting perspective on things. Look at it this way, absence really does make the heart grow fonder! After all, a Ferrari in the garage is still better than no Ferrari at all, although Scott61's covered car pic is surely a sad scene!

I don't know what you guys are talking about...I just went for a ride and it was beautiful...almost 80 degrees, car ran great and what fun!!!

Oooops! Sorry, thought I was in the S. Florida site (it really is beautiful down here :) )

Guys I feel your pain. I lived in New Jersey until 3 years ago and hated the winter. Be patient...it will be worth it. Only 6 more months of winter, right? If you need a getaway, come to south Florida, I'll take you for a ride.

Umm... last night was about 50mph wind gusts, snow drifts that caused about 5 feet of accumulation at the rear deck... Looking outside right now the wind is so strong i can see CLOUDS of snow blowing off the lake below and travelling what appears to be about a mile up the side of the mountain.

Fortunately it was not too cold as with wind chill it got down to about -45F last night (is -18F right now). So a touch warmer than last time around. Pass the tanning oil ;)

Wow - I genuinely feel for you guys. I'm in LA and didn't drive my car for like three weeks and got antsy - fortunately the weather cleared for us and some 30+ cars turned up last Sunday for a great run. We were dodging rocks and mud a bit but at least we were out.

    Here's to an early spring...

    Cheers

My thoughts exactly as I stood shivering, shovel in hand at 5am this morning. I had to crawl into my X5 through the back hatch to start it as all four doors were frozen shut. Enoughs enough!

Next winter I'll be more prepared. When the garage is fully insulated and heated, I can get my thrills working on the Fcars. Right now the damned garage is so friggin' cold I can't get up the motivation to go out there to work with tools that stick to your hands they are so cold.

Maybe I'll do what Scott is doing and climb into my 308 and try to figure out the Nav. system. (I'll pull a map out from the pocket and read it!)

I can't take much more of this winter. It's March! Where is the balmy 40 degree weather? Thank GOD I took advantage of that nice couple of days in February and got out for a spin for a few hours in the 308.

same, every morning we have to chip the ice away from one door on my bros car to pry it open, then push out the other door from the inside.
