    Hey

I wonder if any one can shed some light on these wonderfully little cars. From what i´ve been told, its basically "the other" british roadster with a american engine?? My mechanic has one, all parts (some in boxes) and a very nicely worked over 289.
I would like to buy it and go vintage racing in it, but i have a couple of questions.

How much does a good Sunbeam run for? (this one is a Alpine converted to a Tiger).

and how much for rebuilding it into a race car? It has to be done to period FIA specs to be able to race in Denmark, so no four wheel disc brakes and other trickery!

Hope there someone who can shed some light on this :)

    regards

Good tigers are from 30K to 40K I think.

Fake tigers are worth a lot less but I really don't have a clue how much.

It will probably be cheaper to prepare it for racing than restore it. But be sure to check with the race sanctioning body to be sure they will let it run.

Racing can be pretty expensive, too.

But no reason not to do it and have some fun with it, if you have a venue to run it.

I have always had a soft spot for tigers and cobras. I like the regular alpines too, but probably would never buy one.

    260 and 289 motors.

There were several at the Monterey Historics, one with the 260 and two with really worked over 289s that embarrassed the Ferraris.

The owner of the Shelby Daytona Coupe was having a problem with his 289 and went over the the Tiger boys to ask if they had a spare engine. (They did and agreed to let him borrow it if needed for the Cobra Daytona Coupe.)
