I think I am too busy and side tracked to do this thing. Got 2 kids now, self employed and no ferrari so my time needs to be spent on other things! Does anyone want to step up and organize this event as I am out of ideas at the moment? It isn't that difficult, but I just don't want to half ass it.

Come on Jim, it is only one event a year! :) Luckily Tillman has started helping with much of our events or I would have killed over awhile ago doing our 20+ chapter activities.

I understand though, this might be a good opportunity for someone else to step up. Our goal is to have 6-10 members each in charge of at least one event a year. That will take the load off any one person or small group of people. Some names I can think of who have shown interest in helping with driving events are Mark LaCroix and Don Rose. You might want to ask them.

Remember, our club is run by volunteers. My two terms as chapter president are up end of this year and I'm stepping down. We'll have an election for president, but we need to mature our club a little bit further to have those 6-10 active organizers. Our chapter will fizzle away like it did before us if too much load is on too few people.

    Thanks,
    rob

I've really enjoyed hanging out with the FCA and Fchatters at various events in the last several months, and I've felt very welcomed and at home, despite being a "future owner." :D

I would be happy to spend some time organizing/planning events, so I feel like I'm bringing something to the table...

I also realize you're talking about "official" FCA events, and I'm not a dues-paying member. But if you still want to delegate some of the more mundane tasks to me, I'll be happy to help.

:) I'm not gonna go away, so I might as well be productive :)

I am in the same boat as Dave but I would be happy to help in anyway I can. Maybe Dave and I can share responsabilities since this would be the first time we organize an event. Dave, Rob and Jim let me know what you think.

FYI - John and I are doing a Q&A rally for our local MB group in February.

Don't know if anyone might be interested in this type of rally, but since we already have it put together, we'd be glad to offer it to the DFW F-group on a mutually convenient Saturday in 2005.

The rally takes place in the Glen Rose area, approximately 60 miles, set of driver instructions, set of Q&A for passenger, ends at a BBQ restaurant. We ran it again today in "Kaspar" (new SLK 350) to get more percise point to point mileages and it took approximately 2.5 hours.

    Just food for thought.

    Happy New Year to all.

    Carol & John

I'd be glad to help Manual or David do it. It's not that big of a deal, but I seriously have no ideas right now as my mind is elsewhere. Might be neat to get a different opinion/angle on the event as my tastes tend to lean towards certain things.

If I have time I'll glad to help as well, it's the least I can do for this board.

Not board, FCA DFW club. A big difference, unrelated, although most of our active FCA members happen to be active on FC. :)

    I forgot that it's a FCA event & not a FC event. I guess it's time I join then.

I've been meaning to ask for some time... do you have to be an owner to be a member? Or is it just a dues paying thing?

I had visited that page before, but since it asked S/N, I wondered if that was a "required field" :)

Jim, Don Rose just had lunch with us and is interested in helping. His username is WDR328. You might want to contact him and talk over.

When I pay for the Annual Membership at the FCA website, is my membership good for one calendar year from that date, or is there a uniform enrollment/renewal date, or what?

Next question - is the magazine worth the 15 bucks? How many issues?

And how long before my secret decoder ring arrives :D

You mean $135 bucks? I don't think you have a choice, do you?

Actually, most would say the quarterly magazine accounts for most the $135 value.

I wonder if I'll even renew my FCA membership. The FCA magazine is nothing great. Forza and Cavallino way better. Membership dues do not seem to correlate to the value of being a club member. By comparison, my Willys Gasser Club and Jag E-Type Club dues are a fraction and have better magazines.

I dont know, its cryptic. To me, the publications look like an extra $15 bucks...

Either way, the fee is nothing to sneeze at. I've heard all the murmurs about the ROI of the membership fee being almost nil.

I know I don't have to be a member to tag along with ya'll at functions, but if I want to help participate in planning functions, etc, I should be "legal." Unless the FCA chapter leadership feels differently.

Maybe the local leadership could PM me with a ruling... either way, I want to help out, but I want to be kosher about it.

Dave, read a little more carefully. If you want the magazine AIR MAILED it's another $15.

    It's free with your membership.
