Hey guys I'm in the Dallas area and was wondering if anyone with a almost stock Gallardo/murcieago/f430/360 or something equivalent wants to race my Miata...
Winning/losing doesn't matter, I'm not doing it for bragging rights, and I'm a really cool guy about it, just badly want to get racing a exotic on video!

I make 390rwhp... I'll Post pics later this evening.
Anyone want to run sometime from a 30 roll or something?

And what will you do with the video you hope to get of your car racing an exotic? Not for bragging rights? Then why do you need the video? And are you talking about a drag race? Sounds like it. And an exotic owner letting a video be made while running against a Miata is like allowing one to be made against a Supra. Would not make much sense to me........

I drive a 120 hp Miata myself and would love to tweek it when I can but do not want to get any kind of video of it racing someone. I might be embarrassed by it......................BTW, with the rear wheel horsepower you speak of, how do you get it to the ground? Miatas are notorious for losing traction with stock engines..........

Just a few questions that came to mind......

Making a video about beating an exotic with a "non-exotic" is sending the message that said exotic is inferior to the non-exotic.Its totally bragging in a sense when you post one of those videos.

But semantics aside, I absolutely LOVE V8 Miatas. Very cool.

Me too. I wish mine had the V8 conversion. I guess I would have to bring out my old altered in my avatar if I wanted to race someone. Maybe I could win,,,,,,,,in a straight line.........

Im more curious to see how car will do against a Exotic... Would be very very cool to "hang" with one... another huge reason is that its not everyday you can line up with an exotic and race it... in my dream maybe...

Oh & my rear end/tires are set up properly... I have 100% traction at any speed in any gear...

I want to get it on video so that I can SHOW people the race video, not just talk about... it would be a permanent memory that I can show vs. just "talk"... lol

390rwhp with a huge lump of V8 totally ruining all that is good about a Miata. I have seen Miata's making 450+rwhp with the 4 banger it was delivered with running 9's in the 1/4.

Not for bragging rights, but you want to show/prove to your buddies that you can possibly beat an exotic?? How is that not bragging rights?

Why don't you just be honest and say you'd really like to be able to tell/show/brag to people that your "miata"/Vette engine beat an exotic...? no shame in that kind of honesty.

But remember there's always someone faster and at the end of the day you're still going home in a Miata and the other person in an exotic. ;)

Would be funny though to see the exotic owner show up claiming to be stock yet spraying a 150 shot or whatever..... haaha that would be great and you could get it all on video too. ha

a stock Miata will beat most stock Exotics and Exotic drivers around a track, much less a LS1 unless you are so front heavy you can't turn.

You need to race against an old cheap GSX R750.
You know; just for the memories that you'll have.

Honestly, I think the only way to approach the "what I built, vs. exotic" is not a drag race.

If you knew what you were doing, you would be asking if anyone wanted to compare lap times.

You have very obviously forgotten why the Miata was designed in the first place.

Congratulations on ruining a perfectly good car.
You have proven to the exotic community that you are the kind of car person who has no idea of how to do anything other than go in a straight line at speed, or maybe the toll-way, but only a section with no curves.

Do you really think anyone with an exotic is going to lower themselves to running a race that no exotic was ever designed for?

I do agree that you had to have come from RKC, as they seem to perpetuate all that is wrong within the car culture.
They have forgotten why they exist in the first place, and seem to simply serve as a breeding ground for people who only know how to butcher their cars.

A LS motor in a Miata is overkill. You have ruined a car that at one time could have hung with exotics on the track with less power than what you have given it.

    Well done.

And you seem to perpetuate all that is wrong with Exotic lovers. Have you forgotten that Ferrari was started by a man who "Butchered" Alfa's? I find this extremely offensive due to the fact that I regularly attend RKC and have found that everyone there has a genuine love for cars. They don't care whether they have a $200,000 dollar Ferrari or a $25,000 Mazda they are simply happy to have something with four wheels that they can pour love and money into in the hopes of making something that pleases them. They are the true purists. All you seem to be is bitter, I for one think this guys car is pretty cool.

You should do modded vs modded since you just want to "see", I know of a yellow TT gallardo in your area that might be up for a race from a dig or roll, he might even give you some some feet and the move if going from a dig.

True what you say about Enzo, but the good man never saw fit to "butcher" any car to limit it to only one type of performance aspect.

That is my issue with that.

That Miata would be better served with a RB Series Nissan engine, or other OHC inline six. Or simply a stroked and boosted inline four. At least then the car would still be balanced to go around corners. Like it was DESIGNED to by the spectacular team at Mazda.

I have had a long history with RKC, going back to the days of getting banned from Addison, and kicked out of Frisco. The thing that drove me away was a prevailing attitude of disdain for those who cant afford to have someone else build their cars. The majority of "normal" people who attend are great to chat with, but some of the others are abrasive enough to avoid. That and I really dislike the propinquity they have toward loud, busy environs.

Factor that with the fact that the last few times I was there, I got to witness some folks having some rather spirited races down 635 through the midst of traffic. Now I enjoy a nice high speed run as much as the next guy, but doing so when traffic is moderate to heavy is not the place. I refuse to be present at an event that facilitates such behavior where others could be hurt, even if the facilitation is only due to the presence of the event itself. I know that they profess to not condone such activities, but what I have witnessed has not matched their words with their actions.

    Thats just my opinion.

You can check their forum for my handle, I am still there, as they never seem to want to ban me. I hardly even troll there anymore.

    Holy ****.
    Really????
You guys think I ONLY drive in a straight line?
You guys seriously think the nose is front heavy? ... By the way, the LS1 is 40 pounds heavier than the 1.8L that came out... I gained a TOTAL of 120lb's from the entire swap, 80 of those pounds in the rear. Weight distribution is 52/48... and the car handles BETTER than stock...

This is a street car/Auto-x car. NOT a drag car. See here: (this is before my tire/suspension setup)
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTuzs_-LS4M[/ame]
The car is not scary at speed. It does not spin, handles absolutely amazing, no understeer, and obviously has oversteer with application of your foot.

I didn't build this car to go in a straight line. You guys seriously think that I think I am hot **** and can beat any exotic? ... Yes, its faster than a F430, but thats not the point in racing one... a good race would be against a 458 Italia, and I still have my nitrous, which I wouldn't need to use, but thats NOT the point. I can name 3 dozen cars in a 20 mile radius of me that would absolutely hand my ass in a drag-race...

I simply want to run an exotic for fun, because it would be the most badass thing ever, simple as that. Don't throw things out of proportion.

Im not a ricekiller ****** that thinks he has the fastest car or coolest car on the planet.

In the end, its still a gay miata... and I agree with that...
But please don't label me as a "ricer" or "******" that thinks hes hot ****, because I am not. Im a really easy going guy that built a project car with a limited budget and this is what I came up with. I unfortunately couldn't afford a corvette, so this is what I ended up with, the next best thing to one... (in my opinion of course...

oh my... I went to wikipedia and looked up overcompensation and found a link to this thread. sigh.

No worries op, a friend of mine in big D has a 360 he'll take to a track and play with your Miata. He also has C63 AMG he drives like it's an EVO. (and he's over 60 too) He'll race you in that too I'm sure.

Some people just get their nose bent out of shape and they are afraid a $25,000 Miata might hand them their ass. I'm an old school car guy, I say just go run and smile while you do it. -- As I like to say, "I'm a big fan of taking money and converting it into noise."

BTW my buddy was looking at a Vett his neighbor had for sale, I don't know if he bought it, but I think that race would be even more interesting.

I'll text him and see if he has time.
    -------------

Edit OP, here is the IM I just traded. -- Jim is a good guy, he made a fortune fixing turbines for the oil companies. He is probably on in town 50% of the time but I'm sure he'll take a day to play with his toys. His real love is motorcycles but he always has a go fast car or two. I'm betting he'll be just as interested in your build as you are in an Fcar. He built a 90hp gocart in the 70's that almost killed him... Ask him about it over lunch or something. Great guy.

Me: Hey man, a guy I know wants to race your 360 in Big D. You interested.
    Him: Sure, what's he got.
    Me: Miata.
    Him: LOL Noooooo problemo.
    Me: Did I mention the 400hp LS1?
    Him: Crap. Really? lol
    Me: That's what he says.
Him: I'm in Vegas for 2 weeks with the in lawas. (June's mother is sick) Will let you know when I'm back in D

I might be interested. Bone stock Gallardo and bone Stock C6 Z06 (but I get tires of my choice and brake pads my choice). MSR, you pick configuration (1.7 CW, 1.7 CCW or 3.1). Best lap time in one 30 minute session wins. I can probably run both cars in one session for comparison.

That is the deal. Don't make any excuses or whine, just say yes or no and we can schedule a member day for the festivities. I have a buddy who can set up in-car camera that will come out very professionally.

As a bonus, I can run my Miata with exhaust modifications.

    F430man, there we go!
Jesus... Thank you for understanding my post the correct way...

You should let me know when he's ready, that would be so awesome!

Cant believe some of the posts I am reading above...
$10.00 says 90% of the above posters don't even have an exotic.

Kverges... Only problem I have is I can't run WOT sessions for more than 5 minutes at a time as I have overheating issues at the moment if driven hard in this hot weather (radiator capacity isn't enough I believe)... This swap has only been on the road for 5 months and that was during the winter time, so running hot was never an issue.
