Anyone with a stock exotic want to race an LS1 Miata?

    Ah, but now you are getting into engines that were designed properly.

    If you recall, the LS1 is a basic oversquare GM lump, that runs out of leg around 6K.
    For proper power for a track with a V8, you need to go undersquare, and raise your revs.

    After all, isn't horesepower nothing more than distance multiplied by force?
    (t*rpm=bhp)

    The metric V8's of smaller displacement have generally been better suited for broader dispersion through the power band.
    "There is no replacement for displacement" is a misnomer, it should read "the only replacement for displacement is revs."

    The equation is correct, the leadin sentance is not. Horsepower is how much torque you have multiplied by how often you make that torque (i.e. rpms).
