Watched the Doco on ABC tonight about the Australian Sub in WW1 and the fight with Turkey.

Bought a tear to the eye seeing young men not much older than Laminator having there lives taken as the boats hit the shore. They had no chance. Very, very brave men to do what they did. Something I think I couldn't do. Walk into gaurenteed death.

As Jeff said, lets pray it doesn't happen again.

No disrespect to the current soldiers, but in WW1 as in the doco tonight, 1000's were killed in a single day.

There is more strategy today. Having said that one life lost is one too many.

    We never learn.

Edit: Todays soldiers are highly trained highly skilled people. I think in the old days young "kids" were sent to fight without much training or understanding of the situation at all. IMO of course.

That's another reason why it scares me and makes me appreciate what they did more.

Nope, THAT pic was taken in my billiard room :)

However, the original pic was at the great pyramid in Cairo.

Moral of the story...never play two-up with someone using a duplicate sided coin :)

Most of us are very lucky not to have had to endure the horrors of war. All the more reason we should be grateful to the ones that did.

exactly. My grandad was a WW1 vet (Greek army) and ended up spending 7 years of his youth in a Turkish prison. The stories he told were just shocking......

That it was, but Bloody scary.

A bit like Bankok Hilton, another good movie IMO. One of the better movies with Nicole Kidman.
