I'll be taking my kids up to Warwick, NY for apples this Saturday. The weather forcast is Mid 70's & sunny. I usually go to Maskar's, but it's a bit crowded so a friend recommended http://www.wvwinery.com. I'm expecting to reach there about 10:00am. Anybody else interested in going? Would probably be a great excuse for a run.
Road up and back are awesome (even in the family truckster). Gotta start packin' up the house this weekend or I would join ya. We went last year and had a great time. Enjoy!
My plans got sort of Loop di loo'd for this weekend.... But a buddy suggested I try the orchard/winery below: being better than Maskar's. http://www.wvwinery.com/ opens at 11:00am. I'll be taking the Mazda and hope to hit it by 11. I'll be headed up Rt 23N to 517 to NY Rt 29 to rt 1. This route is actually screaming for a Ferrari drive. Oh well. Directions from NYC are on their site & it's right near Maskars. I figure it's time for some apples & Hard Apple Cider & perhaps sample some apple or pear beer
New Plan..... if your interested, call me on my cell. We're hooking up at the Sheraton Crossroads about 11:30am
John & Amy: Thanks so much for sharing today. Thanks for driving, thanks for lunch & the apples, thanks for everything. My boys were very impressed. Perfect weather, Nice Orchards, great Lunch at the Orchard (I mean really good!), good apples, and hopefully good Hard Cider. Just some pics. Ready to pick some apples! The Tractor ride into the orchard His poor business contact must have been wondering why he was hearing a tractor in the background The ride up Tasting them fresh apples ah, togetherness my boys enjoying the day Sharing the load Lunch Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So clyde what was better. this or maskars. I went to maskars last year. It was pretty good. might be going again soon.
Depends. Maskar's is by far, bigger and way more people. It's only about 3 miles away from the winery. Warwick Valley Winery was smaller, quainter, quieter and far fewer trees, though almost the same variety of apples. People were picnicing, playing ball, and enjoying a wonderful outdoor cafe. No screaming kids & crazy SUV drivers bombing around the orchards like Maskar's For the kids - Maskar's for the girlfriend - Apples & Lunch at the winery. Oh yeah, the waitresses at the winery were young & buxom. Must be the apples
Clyde, thanks for putting with Aimee and I. Yeah, the wine tasting girls had some nice rack!!! I had to refrain from going up to them and squeezing them. Thanks for the hard ciders...one bottle is already empty.
