I'm going to grab a MBP when Apple refreshes their line with Intel's Haswell products. This will be for home use only...no gaming. Is AppleCare worth the small outlay? I'd like to be able to take in a broken product to an Apple store and walk out with a fixed one...that same day. Does it work like this? Are there any awesome slice type batteries that click onto the bottom on the MBP...or anything close without a million cords and stuff to plug in? This is pretty optional since the MBP can get 7ish hours off the baked in battery, but I like having options.
i highly recommend apple care, especially if you are new to the platform. you will 3 years of the best tech support you have ever had. should your laptop break, most likely you will have to send it in for a repair (unless it is a simple fix). a local apple store can ship it for you, saving the time necessary for an empty box to be mailed to your home first. turn around time is typically 7 to 10 days. you would have to do a complete system backup before sending in your machine.
One of the reasons to pay the Apple premium is for services like AppleCare -- especially for devices that can be dropped, drenched, etc. I just hope they don't loose this advantage now that they're Steveless.
