Looks like the tag says large but the size and Snell date would be nice to know. I'm interested if it's an XL.
That's a nice helmet but after October 1 (when Snell 2015 helmets are released for sale) it won't be legal for any kind of sanctioned event.
A moot point, but the SA2005 helmets will be allowed through the end of this year. They don't expire on the day the new ones become available.
I'm pretty sure a number of DE organizers will accept this helmet for longer than through the end of the year. It's a first class brand so I'd rather be wearing an '05 Arai than a later spec Bell, etc. This could very well be an inexpensive way for someone to test the DE/AutoX waters, especially if the OP is negotiable. Certainly worth checking your local rules if the size works for you.
Agree with the first point: this will likely be valid for most track day, autocross, hpde type events for at least another five years, but probably not actual sanctioned wheel-to-wheel type stuff with SCCA, FIA, etc. The second point is utter nonsense. While Arai is no doubt an expensive brand, all these helmets are built to meet the same set of standards. While a more expensive Arai may look cooler, be made out of lighter weight materials and possibly be more comfortable to some people, it is not necessarily a safer helmet than a lower cost helmet. There are expensive Bells too, keep in mind! Ferrari F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen wears a Bell currently. This is like saying a Ferrari is safer than a Volvo or Mercedes because it costs more.
