    I am currently a freshman, going onto my spring semester, does anyone know of any good internships that will help me understand my field and the day to day basics of it. Also, I am wondering if anyone here has any connections on any architecture or design related internships that are willing to give me a job/intern the summer of 2008. Thanks in Advance.

    I would recommend getting a construction job in the summers. It will give you a much better understanding of the things you will be drawing for 50 years. If you get an office job you will learn some about an office setup, but there are many differences from one office to another. I'd recommend the construction job, and watch "The Office" to get your fill of BS office politics that are standard (the one variable that doesn't seem to change). If I were you I would go to Desert Mountain or one of the other high end developements and talk to some field superintendants about working with them.
    If I was spending more time in Scottsdale this summer I would offer you an internship (did that with a few local students previously), but I have most of my projects there wrapped up / on hold currently.

    Thanks for the input, I am not postive where I will be in the summer, its most likely Texas unless I can find something in Phoenix. Thanks for the words of advice Bill, I should have rephrased my thread title, as I am more of a design studies major not a architecture major, I am looking into Industrial Design stuff now, I might skip the internship this year, and just get a "normal" retail job.
