So we all list our cars on eBay for blue sky figures? LOL, now "THAT" would be interesting.

Several years back someone said TR's were dropping in value. Next a whole bunch popped up on eBay and some had buy it nows under $40K. Two weeks later the scare was over, prices returned to normal, some lost, some won. But for a week or so you coulda got a good deal. Or a PITA.

I don't know why this thread has been so contentious. I think we can all agree prices have risen somewhat in the past 2 years or so, but adjusted for inflation, they are still cheaper than 10 years ago. I think we can all agree that as an exotic with a prancing horse on it, 308's and 328's are great values. Let's face it, they are great to look at and fun to drive. Reliabilty is good but maintenance costs still scare would be buyers. My 328 has cost me an average of about 1K a year over 6 years, which seems reasonable to us, but to the general public, they think it's outrageous. Will they become hot collectibles? It's entertaining to speculate, but I don't really care. The only way I sell my GTB is if I find another one I'd rather have, or something else I would rather spend the money on, which is extremely unlikely. I'd sell the 430 first. What I have noticed is that many people now buy 308's and 328's because they really want them and plan to keep them long term. Ten years ago, buyers (including me) bought them more as stepping stones to newer Ferraris.

i'd like to stir the pot one more time. first of all, as i've said before despite majority wisdom i still like my 2 valve gtsi. and lots of people who work on v8 feraris say the difference in speed between my car and a 328 is not worth the extra money. however, i will say that of all the ferraris i've seen the interior quality of my 308 is not even close to the finish of the earlier v12 cars and certainly not as good as the latter v8's. i think the early 308's were a clever attempt at their first mass marketed car and ferrari saw some real profit by cutting corners. i was actually taken aback when i started redoing the suspension and saw that the a arms were just pressed steel. and of course there's way too much cheap vinyl everywhere. soo i love the car because it's my first ferrari and relatively affordable but i don't think it will ever give the 250 swb berlinetta a run for appreciation. jon s

Its about time some of you have started to see the light (abit).

    All 308s are undervalued.

Funny, I specifically prefer the early 308 interior for its older more classic styling and think the vinyl is much preferable to the latter cars wool headliners etc.

The carb cars do sound great but i don't think the kind of buyer that buys a 308 for 100k+ in the future is gonna have any love for carbs. I'm thinking that the whole carb aspect of future prices is way overrated. The guy that wants or pays more for a carb car today isn't the same guy that in 10-15 years is gonna pay for a top dollar 308. My guess is that the QV's are gonna be the ones to have. IMO.

It's still an entry car to the hobby. People need to start keeping them and using them to start a collection and build onto it, but as long as they keep selling them to move up to something else, prices increases will probably match inflation...

Big red, IMHO respectively... you are on crack! :D;):D

My 328 was just the first 308 or 328 to receive the Ferrari Authentication Certificate. I think that might bring the value of your car down from $150 to 140k if you don't have it. :)

Thus far carb cars are always more collectable - look at the boxers, countaches
I think for very good reasons glass Euro/dry sump 308's will be top.

It's true that carbs are more desireable now. I'm saying that the guy who in the future pays the hundred grand or more for a 308 maybe a kid driving an Asian import (Civic or WRX etc.) or a slammed ford ranger now. Younger people love technology and may not see all the virtue in carbs but instead prefer injected cars. Also the 16 inch wheels of the QV's make the car look timeless where the balloon tires on the glass cars may be a turnoff to up and coming future buyers.

The thing that makes me prefer the interior of the injected cars is the seats. I thought the first two carbed cars i saw had seat covers on them 'till i saw a third and realized they came that way. Just opinion though.

I think this Carb issue will not be a deterrent to anyone in the future that's driving a pocket rocket today these kids are smart enough to figure them out. Just like carbs are no big issue on muscle cars now with people buying them. They can always convert them to injected cars. This debate whether these cars are going up or not we'll just have to sit back and see, my guess is yes they will. All you need to do is walk around the Dream Cruise and see what people are driving, anything that's old is cool and they pay good money for the stuff.

No sale on the 140 Robbie !! Im firm on the 150 now....;)

Not into crack, find it a bit to much for me.... coke is so much better ;)

Just wait for the a few more 308s to hit these 120,000 mile clubs and over...peeople will have to make a decision, either restore or trash, they cannot last forever in a beat up state, there will always be the odd exception. You do realize that the 308 glass car is more rare than an f40 ? you do realize its the only time ferrari used glass for a complete car ?

    Tick, tock, tick ,tock....ROLMAO !!

The clock is ticking on all cars made of fibreglass too, it doesn't retain its shape forever unlike a metal, just ask a fibreglass specialist. Fibreglass also cracks and that transfers into the paint - big headache. Plus I don't see why there would be a premium on a fibreglass car for any reason other than rarity not superiority and rarity doesnt always mean desirability for everyone.

You HAVE to have vinyl on the dash. That solar panel windshield will bake leather in no time. Go look at what is happening to some of the Ferraris that went back to leather dashes in the early 90's. Some owners are not very happy right now.

100% Correct, and the problems trying to repair them will be very costly compared to a steel body car in labor.

FWIW I think the 308/328 were the first daily driveable Ferraris, you'll find many have high miles compared to the 12s of the era, you just don't find real low mile <2000mile 308s/328s, they may be worth something one day, you will see a huge difference in price to those that have been bandaged together today to keep running, these cars will get cheaper

Correct, they have structural braces to support things that the steel cars dont need and they are very difficult to access and they rot. The rockers rot and the parcel shelves rot too.

Do i look worried to you :D:D:D:D ROLMAO !!! I can restore it when time comes.

As for rarity and desirability the 308 has it....so that would make the carb cars most likely the more attractive ones.

Well, be careful. You were telling us earlier that it can go 150K to restore. If your car is then worth 150K you are really sitting on a car that has less value to you than a used Toyota when it's all said and done. You better wait until the 308's are worth a quarter million before you go the restoration route.
