    Hi... calling to 550's owners

    I thought that as any normal car the fan would switch on, regardless of ignition switch.
    However mine does not. Switching on after a brief stop the water temp needle is at 1 o'clock on the water tem dial - showing 95 + temp.

    Is that normal ?

    If I understand your question correctly (two countries separated by a common language), my electric cooling fans never run with the ignition off. And it is certainly hot enough here in Phoenix!

    Sorry... question was a bit unclear. Yes I was asking if it is normal to have fans not switching on when igntiion is off.

    The consequence of that is that water temp after switch off sometime rises quite significantly. I guess this can not be great for the whole cooling system ?

    Its called soak back with heat from the engine block etc soaks bake into the cooling fluid and raises its temperature untill the who system gradually cools down to room temp. Perfectly normal.

    If it is very hot(here in TX, that is always the case) I try to shut off the AC before I park, or let her idle a little with it off before shut down. Hot soaks can cook things, so open the hood if you can. Leave key in Run(I forget if fans run in Aux) with engine off, and fans will run. Works better if hood up, place for hot air to go.
    Good luck. Redline "Water-Wetter" may help as well, it raises vapor point.
