I have my '97 F355 on my lift for an oil change. I took a few picks of my headers and I'm paranoid from reading FChat that they will go bad or are already bad. Look at the pics what do you guys think??????

I'm on the original oem headers, gutted cats, and original oem muffler.

If I were to upgrade my entire exhaust, what is the absolute best system ie: headers, cats, mufflers, by pass valve, ect. I know it's a bit subjective and with that in mind I'm ok with somewhat loud and I prefer a high pitched sound. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Phew, that is tough to say from the photos. When you see hot spotting like that, it certainly can mean that a crack is already present. The only way to be 100% sure is going to be by a smoke test. Have your mechanic (or you can do it with a cheap smoke machine) pump smoke into the tailpipes and check for leaks around the headers.

Fabspeed offers a complete 355 exhaust replacement from the headers all the way out to the tips with a lifetime warranty to help take that stress off of your mind.

I have new OEM headers (last year), and they have that blueing on the heat shields. Is there any ticking or exhaust leak sounds? If you aren't sure what that sounds like take the car to someone who is and ask them to listen to it. A 3-4 foot piece of foam pip insulation makes a good stethoscope as well.

If you can do a smoke test effectively that will answer you doubts without a doubt :)

I love my Fabspeed headers, they are beautiful. Probably my imagination but I think they sound better than OEM and I picked up a little torque as well.
