Late Spring should be ideal for the market timing but these experienced soft bidding.

It didn't sell and was relisted with a lower price and still has no bidders

the problem with most of this stuff is the seller's don't really have to sell. the ebay set that included books and tools is/was offered by someone who will sit and wait rather than fire sale it. stuff has been few and far between for some time now. with cars selling above the $175k mark without this junk, i'd bet we will see a new set of interested buyers.

Maybe, just maybe, folks are buying the cars to drive, and/or the cars are equiped with a modicum of books and tools that are selling right now.

there don't seem to be a lot of "entry level" cars out there. IF you're charging $180K for a GTS, I would think it will come with books and tools, maybe not all of them, but certainly much of what a buyer would want.

And perhaps the speculative frenzy has gone out of the books/tools market. There was quite a run up, ans now, prices will settle down for average stuff, where really nice sets will still command premium prices.

We'll see where it is in September.

    I agree,
and believe the market is seasonal from Spring to Fall being a great time to sell

I have bought many things on ebay, but not very expensive items -- I think a lot of people might find on eBay but will usually get in touch with the seller and do the transaction off line. I don't believe eBay can do anything about a fraudulent sale, and I'm sure most people would rather get documentation and verification from the seller.

Besides, $10,000 for some books is nutso anyhow!

No way, man! When press the brake pedal, downshift into third and ease the car into a fast bend, feeling it respond to the slightest movement of your fingertips, the experience is so much richer knowing that you have an authentic owner's manual and pouch (for which you've paid through the nose) in the glovebox! ;)
