Are there any CLK-GTRs in USA?

At least one that I know of was in Florida owned by a collector, and there was one I saw at the Gooding auction in Pebble Beach estimated at 1.2M to 1.5M I think. It didn't sell.

 

I know of one V12 on the West Coast.

 

There's at least one road version as teak mentions. I haven't seen that car, but did see the race version he spotted at Gooding down here near LA a few years back. It was displayed at the Grand Opening party for the AutoGallery when they took over Ogner.

I have also seen one of the CLK-GTR Roadsters in the USA. This was #5 of 5 as I recall, and the only one I know of in the USA. It was for sale a few times on Ebay and was spotted at Black on Black - an exotics dealer in LA. I know who imported it, but have no clue who owns it now, or if it is still here.

Gerd Petrik owns a coupe. There was a roadster - probably the one mentioned above - in the shop at RB Motoring in City of Industry, CA a while back.

 

i saw a hard top, not sure if it was road version or track version but i saw it about 3 or 4 years ago at ferrari of los gatos.. i think it was ferrari.. if not it was just some dealer..

 

There was one advertised in last month's DuPont Registry (October edition). It was in Georgia, if I remember correctly. I like 'em.

 

Yep, saw it on the road abut 2 years ago.

I met him a few years back when I first got my 512TR and he was on the Forza Mille rally w me in his F50. He told me he had the CLK GTR, Mac F1, 512TR, Countach etc. Nice guy

I love that thing, perhaps more than the similar Porsche GT1. There is just something so disgustingly cool with it retaining the front end of the common MBs and mixing with a LM racer.

He actually had two F1s, but has since sold both of them. He sold #067 first, and it ended up with Elon Musk, the former CEO of PayPal. The other F1 he had was #045 and it ended up with Armen at Newport Autosport for a while, then changed hands a few other times.

His two F1s were part of the batch of 7 F1s imported by Dick Fritz as Ameritech F1s. Others went to Larry Ellison (#062), Ralph Lauren (#055 & #074), Carl Beal (#042) and Herb Chambers (#044).

I believe those photos were taken at GK Automotive in Santa Ana, which is the EPA lab that RB uses to help Federalize their Skylines. I don't think RB had anything to do with the importation of the Roadster.

Heh, me too! He claims it to be his favorite from his collection. That guy is a riot! I am sure I told you some good stories about being in various locations with this gent...I digress......

Was supposed to go hang with him a few months ago when Charlie from here stayed with him when looking at area law schools.

I missed the trip, but saw the pics. Not sure how often he drives it, or Pancho for that matterD). Well actually, if I recall correctly, I don't think it gets driven much, if at all. Not sure why though since he drives the piss out of every other car he has. Maybe it's his own version of an 'Eleanor' so to speak...

But you know what's cool? In his garage he has an extra rear end body panel hanging on the wall as a display!

 

I believe they are imported under the "show and display" clause, limiting their usage and annual miles driven.

 

IIRC, he told me in 03 that he had never driven it!

 

This might be right. I'll ask Charlie. He sat in it a few months ago and it might only have about 200 miles on it. So sad!

 

I remember seeing a CLK GTR in the showroom of Fletcher Jones Benz a while back. Stunning car.

 

Does any one know if the Monaco Royal Family owns a CLK GTR? Any info would be appreciated thanks...

 

So there are a total of 3 in the US?

1) In in Florida - Coupe
2) One somewhere on the West coast - Coupe
3) The Roadster that was on black on black

Any more or is that pretty much it?
