I know there are some pinball collectors on this board. Who likes pinball? Who has a pin or a collection of pins?

Buying pinball machines can be very frustrating until you know what to look for. Is that keeping anybody from buying one?

If you have pinball photos, please post them here. Below are a couple of my recent addition:

I love pinball machines. Just dont have any room/time for one right now, hopefully soon.

Every time I visit vegas I make a bit of time (15-30mins) to hit the arcade or a game works to see whats out there.
Check out ebay every once in a while to see whats out there, pretty interesting.

Do you know about the Las Vegas Pinball Museum? If not, you are going to like what you find:

the Shoot out game is a blast - all done with mirrors. My favorite is the williams base hit pitch and bat machine - watching those mechanical players run the bases is cool. that pinball museum in vagas is huge!

At one point I had a bunch of Bally/Williams late models along the wall. Awesome sight. Too bad I lost the photos in a hard drive crash :(

Wow, that is quite a list! Why did you sell them all? BTW, are you in Dallas or Austin? I passed a Tillman truck yesterday in Austin and wondered if that was your company. Shannon (pin repair) was at my house yesterday and I think he mentioned your name.

I do know Shannon, or did back in the day. We worked together starting the Texas Pinball Festival a while back.

As far as selling, I go through phases in my hobbies. There was a Pinball Time -- it's now over. It started fading a few years back.

Never did find all the old pics, but here's an sample of the early lineup -- later it became all WPC games

What a neat thread. My husband's been dropping hints about how much he would love to have one of the old school pinball machines - not necessarily a collectable, something for fun and enjoyment. Can you guys give me some pointers on what to look for? I know nothing about them and they are not exactly cheap..

Feel free to PM me with any games you are interested in knowing more about (what they should cost, what to look for, etc.) I am happy to help share what I have learned after 8 years of collecting. You can find a wide variety of great pinball machines for $500-1000 in 100% working condition. The really collectible games in excellent condition range from $4K -$10K+. Of course, there are excellent deals out there from time to time (like a barn find) and there are places that restore old games back to new condition for top dollar.

There are so many places to search for pinballs, but it really depends on what you like. It sounds like your husband would enjoy an Electro-Mechanical game (EM). Here is a great place to start - ipdb.org. That site has information and photos about every single pinball game ever released. You can search for themes, manufacturers, etc. I suggest starting out with a Bally/Williams game as they are great machines that you will be able to find parts for.

Enjoy searching...that is part of the fun!

Nice pin collection! I especially like the Medieval Madness and Frankenstein. My business partner has Frankenstein at his house and we have spent many nights playing that game until the early hours...
