    Yep.

250cc F/E International class, twin engine, around 90hp, up to 270kmph.

    and

125cc Gearbox class, around 45hp, going close to 200 kmph.

Both use liquid cooled engines, 6" tires, and 4 wheel disc brakes.

    Holy Crap!

Leave it to the Aussies to build rocket ships like those! Tell us more Admiral. 250 twin, as in 250cc GP motorcylce engines? WOW!

On another note, when at the track back in Denver, one of the local University engineering classes showed up with a CBR600 powered kart. F'n unbelievable!

    Yep. Exactly. :)

They'll comfortably outlap V8 supercars (600 horsepower). The only cars faster in Australia than these karts are Formula 4000 and Formula 1.

Just found this website about the superkarts. Some nice quotes and general descriptions for you to read. I especially like the F1 drivers quotes and the power to weight ratio comparison. :D

Lots of good superkart links here. Manufacturers, clubs, teams, schools, etc.

Damned! Is it too late to respond as a fan? :) One thing I always found odd. Is it true these do not have a suspension? Is it just too heavy to justify the gains? Even many remote control cars have coil springs with oil dampers.

Yep, no suspension. It's really quite brutal on the driver piloting these things. They corner very very quickly, plus acceleration and braking forces are huge.

But they're perfect if you're serious about acclimatising yourself to the forces and speeds of racing in the top open-wheel catagories.

I've got a 03 Tony Cart, TM 125 Motor. Currently ranked 5th in my class in the russel series (Grand Masters). Was practicing yesterday, think I broke a rib, or at least bruised it. My fault, too stupid to buy a rib protector, bought one after the fact.

A bunch of us rented a track, and by the end of the day I had done the same thing. I had a protector, but it was a little old and loose and would slide down. Another guy broke 6 ribs!

Taking a short cut across the curbs in the esses. First curb was ok, the second got my rib, I think. Trying to get another second off my lap times.
