These are probably the same new production wheels everyone is offering. These are the smoother looking ones which some tout as looking better than the old rougher looking sand cast ones. I like the rougher original ones but are hard to find and old. Campagnola was bought out by Technomagnesio and I think they were bought out by someone else.

I would guess they are all repro wheels with smooth finish. Original repro moulds had the camp logo on it, but it was removed i think for fear of any copyright infringement etc.

I had the first set of repro's which has the campy logo in it, i have these fitted to the car and it has saved me many hours in wheel cleaning.

the orginal campys sit on the shelf in the garage

these rims are reproductions made out of aluminium
they look like the original Campys and they are stamped "Campagnolo" (but no Dino stamp)
that`s possible because "Campagnolo" isn`t copyright reserved and the company doesn`t exsist any longer (that I was told when DinoParts started reproduction...)
Cromodora is still copyright reserved and not stamped on reproduction rims

Superformance offers the same reproduction Campys at less than half price than DinoParts!

What you have been told about Campagnolo being out of business and copyright/trademark issues is not correct. Campagnolo makes components for racing bicycles, and I see their components (and labels/insignia) in bike shops all over the world. I just contacted a local bike shop and verified that they are still in business. In fact, the shop just placed an order for components.

With respect to still being in business, see, for example:

    http://www.campagnolo.com/jsp/en/corporate/index.jsp

    With respect to trademarks, see:

    http://www.campagnolo.com/jsp/en/trademarks/index.jsp

Just a little research can go a long way.

Now, they may have stopped building wheels for cars, or closed down or sold that division. I will try to find out.

I believe that is for the Bicycle division.

    Auto was separate

Uhh, I pointed out that the auto wheel division appears to have been separate. Do you have any other specific information?

Campagnolo sold its wheel manufacturing to Tecnomagnesio.

I went to visit them about 20 years (or more) ago, and had a bunch of Alfa GTA wheels made up. Extremely rare nowadays. It was very cool to see the manufacturing process. Wood stamps into sand, real magnesium, 7 X 14, weigh 6,5 lbs...
Only problem, the sandcast look is less than originals. Now, unobtanium.

They have the Campagnolo hub cap with them, albeit made by Tecnomagnesio.
I don't think there was a patent on the wheels or using their emblem.
The wheels do not have any brand name cast on them.

The "new" Dino wheels, do have "Campagnolo" cast on them, but not "Dino".
The sand cast look is completely gone, but as I do not have options, Superformance was a great second choice.
Most likely, Compomotive purchased the molds or made copies. They also make the Stratos rallye (coffin) wheels used on the replicas, rallye 308's, amongst other 'vintage' wheels.

    Regards, Alberto
