    I got the part number from the service manual and googled them. The site says these are for a 308, which they are not if the picture is accurate. I'm hoping one of you Mondial experts knows.

    Thanks!

    I need new rear shocks. Mine are shot!

    Hi
    82 1831SP1 are for the 308GT4 only, no other Ferrari seems to use them. So not for the Mondial.

    T Rutlands seems to have something:

    http://www.trutlands.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=114335-13

    No picture....no Koni part number. But almost $300/each. I guess that's not really that bad, all things considering.

    But the Mondial Service Manual lists the part number for the rear Konis on the Mondial QV as "82 x 1831"

    The Koni North America site has no record of any Koni in a Mondial ever (they list numbers for the 308, 400, and several other models, but no Mondial).

    Why oh why can't anything ever be simple with these cars?

    Gerrit,
    Are you sure? What is the "SP1" part? because the Mondial manual says that the mondial uses the 82 1831.

    Birdman -- Check the various Mondial OMs in Section 4 under "suspensions" (at about page 86 in the US OMs). I didn't check them all, but several show:

    front = Koni 82P-2069

    rear = Koni 82P-2073

    It would appear that there were various shocks used? Original Ferrari V8 shows Bilsteins for Mondial 1, and Koni for 3.2 and QV. That book says the Koni's are as Steve M mentioned above.

    Perhaps the wisest thing is to take a wheel off and check what is actually on the shock?

    Re: 82 1831 SP1, I have been repeatedly told they were used only on the 308GT4. And they are supposedly out of production. I just bought a pair from Superformance in the UK with date code 2907.

    Eurospares have them for £84.50 each.

    http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partsListing.asp?M=1&Mo=665&A=1&B=39037&S=&ID4=1579484

    They list the number as 114335. Superceded From Part No. 126623

    Also with the pound sterling being so bad they might be quite a good buy, although the postal weight might be an issue.

    Its a shame you don't need fronts as I have a brand new boxed pair in my garage ( I paid £100 on fleabay + £15 postage about 4 years ago). I would just like to get my money back if possible.

    Jeff, how much was shipping? Eurospares doesn't reply to e-mails.

    I put the Mondi on the lift and the rears are in fact 82P-2073. Can't read the fronts...springs are in the way.

    They have a Delivery button near top right of their front page where you can figure out the costs. Probably will use UPS so be prepared to bend over. I have learned to refuse buying from places that only ship via UPS. It once cost me $50 is shipping plus another $45 in misc charges (not taxes or import duties BTW) to get 10 chips delivered from the US!!!

    I just called a Koni dealer in the USA and gave them the part number of the shock. They had no record of it, and told me to call Koni about getting them rebuilt. As many of you know, I had a bad experience with having Konis for my 308 rebuilt in the past, although it was not Koni that rebuilt them. Just for giggles, I called Koni and they said it will be $125 per shock plus $40-$60 in parts each. So we're talking $200 per shock to REBUILD them. Eurospares looks cheap now. But the shipping from UK is going to be a killer.

    Hi, as a point of comparison on the UPS charges, a pair of 308GT4 rear shocks cost me CD$96 in shipping from the UK to Toronto via Parcel Force. Superformance.co.uk do not use UPS thank goodness. Perhaps you can get Eurospares to use that shipping option in place of UPS?

    The total price was $800 NZ, so thats about £300 so shipping was expensive!

    nope, not an option. they do however, have great UPS rates...it just that when UPS gets to your door you take it in the ass.
    there's nothing Eurospares can do about that, it's just the UPS cash grab.

    It looks like I have found a good courier company here in the Uk.

    I have paid for a pair of Konis to be collected from me today and shipped to a friend;) in the US for £35 on a 2 day courier delivery. I won't post the name of the company or a link yet in case they turn out not as good as I hoped. But they could be handy if any of you guys need something heavyish from the Uk.

    I just received a nice pair of new front shocks from Pete! Thanks Pete! Fchatters to the rescue again! Pete shipped via DHL which was super reasonable.

    I also just ordered a pair of rears from Eurospares, and I have to say, they were a delight to deal with on the phone and assured me that the shipping to my door would be no more than £28.00 via UPS and I will have them early next week.

    How cool is that?? :D

    The rear shocks with shipping came to £197.00 which is about $315.00 at today's exchange rate, or about the cost of ONE shock without shipping from Rutlands.

    I tell you people....now is the time to buy all that stuff you wanted to get from the UK...the exchange rate is the best it has been in ages.
