I don't understand your statement. "Where have you been for the last 2 years"? 2002 - Was dominated by Ferrari 2003 - Saw a bit more competition, but the World Championship was only close due to the new points system and not based on the true speed / merits of the other team. I would love to admit that Williams and McLaren where actually that close to MS. But all this to say, although I like MS, and I think he's a genius at driving, it would be nice to see somebody challenge him. Come on Alonso (my favorite driver since last year).
Frank is just messing with you. Just read an interview with Mika who asks a good question about Alonso's speed (or the lack thereof). As much as I agree with you and cheer for Alonso, there is still a question of his absolute speed. In the second half of last year Trulli (of whom I really do not think highly) outsped him. Fernando seems to have the full package, but I'm not totally convinced about his speed. OTOH MS doesn't have the total speed either, but otherwise the total package. In raw speed Mika was faster, but speed alone doesn't get you the title all the time. But even Alonso in the other Ferrari wouldn't change the outcome this year I think.
Uh... blowing your nearest competitior into the weeds by 6/10ths of a second, and touching only 2 burms over an entire lap is raw speed, macthed with brilliant car control. MS must have been laughing the whole day.
Okay where is my letter, checked the mail this morning and it isn't there ... man wouldn't that be an interesting job Pete
I don't know about the whole Williams thing. Sure their car probably will get better, but when the drivers are talking about crashing each other out of the race, you don't exactly have the best environment to win grand prixs.
Actually nothing really new for Williams. They always played their drivers against each other (Jones, Reutemann, Piquet, Mansell).
