Are you going to Pebble Beach?

Dear Moderator - I don't have a clue where to put this post. Feel free to move it as you see fit. However, it may help to make it a sticky or to start a similar sticky.

Folks, it is about that time. In a little more than a month, the love crowd will descend upon the Monterey peninsula. The car lover crowd that is.

If you have never been, you should go. However, you need to understand that it will take a special effort if you plan on meeting anyone. There is just so much going on and so many people that the odds of just running into a buddy are pretty slim.

Two years ago, we had an FChat dinner, which worked well. However, I don't think that Rob is going this year.

The closest thing to a FChat event will be Jim Glickenhaus (Napolis) who will be hosting the unveiling of his P 4/5 car on Friday night. You need to contact him for more info on this event.

Other than this, my suggestion is to PM people you'd like to meet to get their contact info. (I understand that it is not a good idea to post cell phone numbers on the Internet.)

To get the ball rolling, I thought that I'd start a list of who is going, beginning with me!

Usually I go to the Tour lunch in Carmel on Thursday, Concorso Italiano on Friday, Laguna Seca on Saturday and Sunday.

I would love to be a passenger in the tour. Anyone have an extra seat?

What "Tour lunch" are you talking about? Also, r/e "passenger on the tour". are you referring to the Tour d'Elegance? If so, you must/better have incredible connections, or forget about it. If not, is there an F-car tour that some of us don't know about?

 

The Tour d'Elegance. The tour lunch in downtown Carmel on Thrusday. And yes I have incredible connections. Its called f-chat.

The people on here are super generous.

I see alot of cars in the tour with no passengers. I dont know if there are rules about how many passengers you can have, but I was just hoping someone would be willing to have a co-pilot. Wish me luck.

 

I'm going up, although I haven't figured out exactly what events I'll be attending.

I'll be driving up from LA with the FCA group on Thursday. Would like to hook up with anybody who's driving back on Monday.

And after treating my 1970 365GT like a 4,000lb F-1 car for two years in a row, keeping up with a crazy-ass bunch of mostly 360 drivers on the San Luis Obisbo-to-Carmel Highway 1 portion of the run (which fewer and fewer FCA guys seem to make, splitting off to the 101 instead), and even driving the car on the track at the FCA '94 meet at Laguna, I think I'll drive the 308 track car. Any problems using Hoosier racing slicks on Highway 1?

Rock on. Mere mortals like me willl be watching the Tour, assuming I can get accurate data on the exact route. Do you have a reliable/official source for the route?

 

I got my ticket this week and can't wait for the event. I'll be going with a friend and 2 more of my friends will also attend the Concorso Italiano.

I'll probably be going again this year. Every year for 3 years so far and I'd like to make it four.

Though its a bit late to plan a large style of event, I'd imagine that if there is interest we could reserve a dinner without too much trouble. Provided we got a head-count of people who would want to do so by this time next week...

 

Never been but would like to go. I'm nearby right now (vacationing) but probably won't make it

I will be there Wed - Sun.
Wed - drive up (My '87 Trossa following my friend's 250 Ellena)
Thursday - Pebble Tour (volunteer) - line up cars at Pebble and Carmel. I had to push start a Bugatti last year in Carmel.
Friday - Concorso Italiano (showing Trossa and my friends will be showing their 250 Ellena)
Saturday - Auctions / Relaxing (RM, etc.)
Sunday - Pebble Beach (volunteer - I will be the one letting the cars come down the final road to the green) I have been doing this for past 7 years "Thanks Tom S." I hear every car drive by!

What time is the P 4/5 unveiling?
