Came across this nice looking silver Mondial coupe on Ebay. Never seen a silver Mondial, looks very nice I think. Of course, having a silver 328 might make me a little bias! If my four seater were up for the end of the lease, I'd consider this car, provided everything else checks out. Curious what other opinions are on this car. My guess is a repaint as the side grills are not black. But, looks good in the pictures.

    Looks sharp with those wheels...

Whenever I read/see an ad that says something to the effect of, "You'll NEVER find another _________ *this* clean!!!!!!", I'm tempted to write back with something along the lines of, "Care to bet that car on it?"

looks pretty good to me, a QV as well. Mine has a red interior which IMO lifts the inside a bit. I wonder how much it will go for?

At the risk of appearing ignorant when it comes to Mondial's, is this an example of "pimp my steering wheel"?

Nah, not really... Many people who own 308s and Mondials opt for direct-swap, smaller diameter, aftermarket MOMO steering wheels over the larger wheels that came from the factory.

I'm fairly interested in this car. I assume the Mondial QVs are much better than the earlier 81-82 "GTS/B-I" cars. Not quite 3.2 fun. but still a lot better than the earlier cars.

Yes? Does anyone know this particular car? I love the silver on black.

That looks like a very nice car - very pretty.
Those wheels are the late 80's period-correct and Italian OEM Speedline correct 17 x 7.5 and 8.5 upgrades specifically for the Mondial - these were a dealer option for the cars in Germany when I was there, although available through Speedline dealers. When new they were **quite** expensive, and I think they are now NLA - I know as I have a set. With modern tires on the 17" rims, the handling and steering effort both dramatically improve.
As far as the steering wheel, practically all Momos are easily interchangable with the stock OEM Momo wheel. Many folks go to the inexpensive but nice 308/328 style Momo wheel. The one on this car is a bit more modern.
It's amazing that the strength of this and every Mondial, the concept of a daily use Ferrari, is so lost on so many folks.

If it checks out, this will make someone a very nice, usable, well done and elegant Grand Tourismo for not much money.

I agree, I'd pursue it if my daily driver's lease was up. Thanks for the info on the Speedlines, I did not know that.

    hello,

U.S. model year 1981 was the first and only year for mondial's "cheese grater" grill to be painted matte black. from 1982 forward, the grills were painted body colour. good cars after 1985 with the 3.2 liter, body coloured bumpers and non-metric tyres.

the first ferrari i ever drove was a mondial 3.2 coupe. very likable car. same drivetrain as a 328 at three-quarters the price. if you're looking at a '83 coupe' try stretching your budget a bit and find a '86-'88 3.2 coupe. much nicer car at an already fully depreciated price.

of course a PPI, and a binder full of services is mandatory regardless of what you get. also, fuse boxes melt quite frequently. but good luck and keep us informed.

    cheers,

    joseph
