What can people tell me about Arizona State University or Temple?

Mia is looking, she likes they have the rare Sustainable Business Management, warm weather, and a good distance running program.

Mia is not a 4.0 GPA 1500 SAT kid, so not looking for the most competitive schools. However, she does have a good GPA and SAT, wants a reasonably good academic school.

    Thank you.

ASU is a great school and you get out of it what you want. My son and I made 10-12 trips there and he was convinced he was going there until a last minute admission from another school made him change his mind. There is a great honors college there with separate housing/cafeteria that wasn't that difficult to get into but also gives a more scholarly atmosphere. It's definitely still a big party school but have had friends and friends' kids get as involved in it as they want to be. I was always super impressed with the faculty and school itself, even sat through an orientation and some classes. Part of me wishes my son did attend, but he did great in his college career. Good luck!

I graduated at ASU in 1978. Its a bit different now!

My first semester costed me $179.00. I did a trimester some years because I was working and could only do about 12 credits a semester. Summer semesters were limited and shorter so it was about 1/2 price. But I could catch up a bit from those taking 16-17 credits.

When I graduated 5 years later, I paid $235.00 a semester (which I thought was outrageous). So I graduated for about -- $2700 in tuition invested over 5 years. I came out of college richer than when I went in. Bought my first car in the 2nd year (well technically my 2nd but the first one I chose) -- a used MGB GT. It gave me so much trouble I bought a used Alfa Spider in my last year. It wasn't much better!

Honestly, it was a pretty vibrant school then. Lots of students from CA. It was known as a "party campus". I never saw any of that. Not sure about today. Today there is a huge campus in North Phoenix instead of going to Tempe.

That's awesome! That $2700 didn't cover my son's fraternity dues for last semester, different times, and not for the better.
