Post away, I'd love to hear your theory on how Natalee Holloway was murdered because she knew the real story on 0846.

Many years ago Arlie was a young lad working in an Italian auto wrecking yard.

Yet another delivery from Ferrari came by and they dropped off this old fire damaged race car frame and gave strick instructions to destroy it.

Arlie and his mate thought yep we can make a new spit/barbeque from all this tube so we can have awesome cook ups for lunch ... sure beats cold left overs.

After struggling all day with a blunt hacksaw they had managed to get a few tubes off, and also thought they were real clever in that they found a tube with a useful small flat tab on it which will keep the pot level.

About this time a guy called Tom entered the yard and Arlie and his mate were over the moon cause they managed to get a fiver for the rest of the frame ... they really thought they had won the lottery, especially as it was cash in hand and the boss did not even have to know!!!

Well Arlie I'd be pissed too ... but that is life ;) ... you should have aimed for a tenner!

Pointless? Agreed. This thread has as much credibility as a mangled chassis walking out of a junkyard in Italy, getting rebuilt as a repro Ferrari in England, ending up in Switzerland in 1977 with a legitimate serial number, then somehow turning up in England in 2000 without a serial number. To quote Craig Breedlove: "And for my next trick, I will set myself on fire!"

As for "moronic rantings", this is the only pic I could find of a "moron ranting".

    I'll bring the kerosene.
Your arguments are too incoherent to disagree with, Arlie.
And I at least have gone well past the 3rd grade.
No pic here, just utter disdain for a troglodyte the likes of you.

Oddly enough, I kind of agree with him (to a point, it was the wrong area to spout off, however). If Californians had a devastating earthquake every year or two and we always rebuilt our homes in the exact same fashion as before, the rest of the country would think we're nuts (not that they don't already).

As it sits, we have a "Big One" every 10-20 years and constantly improve our building codes & engineering skillz to thwart the effects of 'our' natural disaster, just like Japan. We pay up front and it saves a lot of money in the end- home design in prone areas should be approached with a "when", not "if" mindset.

Of course Tmobile conveniently forgets that I posted that remark on
08-25-2005, 08:08 PM , which was what, TWO days before the storm even got near the Gulf Coast area? Which means that during that TWO day time period, those people could have DRIVEN ALL THE WAY TO CALIFORNIA to avoid the storm. But now that Tmobile has brought up the subject, a friend of a friend has a father and a brother-in-law that chose to "ride out" the storm in Bay St. Louis next to New Orleans. They haven't been heard from since Sunday. Now whose fault is it that they chose to "ride out" the storm? And how many people that chose to "ride out" a hurricane, have been killed during the past 50 years? Bad decision. Remember Harry Truman (NOT the president) who chose to "ride out" the Mt. St. Helen's eruption back in 1980? He is now buried under several hundred million tons of debris.

I may be a moron myself. My wife say's that I am, but to be honest with you I enjoy Arlie's moronic comments. This place would be so dead, kinda like the "other site" without all the morons posting moronic comments. I think this would be a good thread to post your favorite personalized liscence plate on, because I think those threads are moronic. In fact there is a huge amount of moronic content here, but that just comes with the territory. So put up with it or visit a more friendly site.

Partially agree, although like you said...there is a time and a place for everything. Problem is, states like CA and FL are huge contributers to our national economy. People have to live there and be able to afford it...And we have watched building codes go up and up and up and up in the last 5 to 10 years...The newer buildings very rarely are the ones falling if you like...That damn Guitar on the Hard Rock in Biloxi is still sitting there...Why...because it was just built...Same thing with the Beau...

My house can withstand 140mph winds as set by the building code 2 years ago. It has been through 2 hurricanes, one of which the eye passed 5 miles to the west. Government and business are not just turning a blind eye. When disaster strikes, everyone loses...A lot of the newer homes now are being built with CONCRETE instead of wood.

I think the comment had terrible timing and as usual...Arlie, loves to address the problem (very insensitively, ah hum...Natalie Holloway) but very rarely does he offer a 'helpful solution'...To me, thats someone that likes to stir the pot but not 'solve the problem'.

Another thing...we see wild fires, 10 million dollar CA homes sliding from mudslides and yet those houses are rebuilt in the exact same locations...Locations prone to destruction. This is not 'pick on the problems each state has' though, because they all have some. New Orleans wasn't even an issue as far as natural disasters because it has dodged the bullet so many times....New Orleans is expected to pass South FL for the most expensive hurricane damage ever...And when the BIG ONE hits in Cali, that will surpass them all. It's a pointless arguement IMHO, unless Arlie has something constructive help to offer. Otherwise, keep stirrin that pot.

During the great depression of the 1930s, millions were out of work. Did they sit around bemoaning the fact that they had no jobs, or did they at least pack their bag and travel elsewhere to seek a better way of life? They traveled elsewhere. So why should it be any different for an area that is swept clean by hurricanes every few years? If Joe Windbag wants to live in a hurricane zone, let him rebuild his house every time it gets blown away. But let him rebuild it with HIS money, not the money from an insurance company settlement that comes out of the pockets of other premium payers in Iowa and North Dakota and Kansas. Isn't there something basically unfair to pay Joe Windbag the cost of building a house over and over again in an area that is known for repeated destruction, yet Joe Thrify couldn't get a loan to build his first house in the middle of North Dakota if he had bad credit. Why give a two time loser a third chance before you give another person a first chance?

Forgive my ignorance but isn't this the point of insurance. A company charges many people small premiums because they understand the risks associated with owning a home anywhere (SE: Hurricanes, CA: Earthquakes Midwest: Tornadoes) so that in the event of a disaster such as Katrina someone is not stuck having to pay out of pocket to replace literally everything. If you feel like its unfair that your premiums are helping to pay for "Joe Windbag's" new house don't buy insurance, but then don't complain when you do have to pay for everything out of pocket. The fact is the system works and when Joe Thrifty's house is struck by lightning his insurance would cover that, most likely by using the money Joe Windbag is continually paying them. The fact is the system works and thats why people buy into it.

People are FORCED to obtain insurance whether they like it or not. As far as I know, all states require automobile drivers to show "proof of financial responsibility" which, for most people, means having to pay an insurance company. In order to buy a house, which, for most people means obtaining a loan, the lender REQUIRES a potential buyer to obtain insurance. In other words, unless you are rich and can pay cash for everything, most people have NO choice in the matter of buying insurance or not.

The odds are far greater that Joe Windbag's house will be hit by a hurricane than Joe Thrifty's house will be hit by lightning. I know of 2 houses that were hit by lightning. All one has to do is watch tonight's network news and one will see THOUSANDS of houses that have been hit by just ONE hurricane.
So which JOE is receiving more for his insurance money than the other Joe?

So let me get that straight:

Arlie living in Hickstown USA somewhere Mid West for example pays how much Windstorm Insurance per year? Like mine $ 6000/year???? No, maybe $400 and for that he is covered in the unlikely event his house gets blown over by a tornado.

But if somebody living in "Tornado Alley" gets their house destroyed and maybe loss of life why should I care? Why should I in South Florida pay for the idiot that lives in a Tornado area. Why should I care for those in texas that get flooded out of their homes with MY Flood Policy or care about homes in LA and SFO that get destroyed in an earthquake.

What States are left to live in by the Arlie Standard? ...I guess Montana. So lets all move to Montana so Arlie will not have to rant about him paying for Insurance.
and NO, Boise Idaho is NOT an option. :)

Amazing how some people display absolutely no brain whatsoever!

You mean those type of people who repeatedly build right back where hurricanes have killed thousands of people and caused BILLIONS of dollars in property damage OVER and OVER again? ONE hurricane will cause more damage than a 100 tornadoes. No comparison.
