I also loved that line from one of the early episodes (the pilot?) when George Sr is in prison and he's talking to Michael. Michael asks him why he didn't make him president of the Bluth Company and George says, "I didn't want to get you in trouble so I made your mother president". Then he moves closer to Michael and says, "they can't charge a husband and wife for the same crime!" Micheal says, "I don't think that's right." George Sr just sighs and exclaims under his breath, "I've got the worst ****ing attorneys!".

    Just gold!

All right, you guys talked me into buying the DVDs, so I hope you're right!
I usually can't stand sitcoms because they speak to the base level of society (no offense to all the Married With Children fans), but if this show appeals to the same folks that watch West Wing, it's got to be good. Guess I'll find out!

If you've got a well-oiled brain, you'll love the show. Just keep in mind two things:

    1. You need to watch at least 2 or 3 episodes in a row in order to get a good feeling for the characters. If you sit down and watch the pilot only, the charactes just seems odd and slightly stupid. When you watch 2 or 3 episodes in one sitting, you get a great understanding of each character's identity, and it gets funnier and funnier.

    2. Pay very close attention. For example, in episode 2 or 3 (don't know which one), Gob creates the "BananaGrabber" character, and negotiates his rights to him, so quickly that you can easily miss it. At the very end of the show, "BananaGrabber" shows up again, and if you missed the 10 second conversation about him earlier, it makes no sense. Knowing the background makes the scene exceptionally funny.

That's the thing with Arrested Development: it is so quick and smart, than you can watch one episode, laught to 30 different jokes, and then watch it again and find another 30 that you didn't hear the first time.

It is a very complex and intelligent show. Pay attention when you watch it, and you'll laugh harder than you've laughed before.

Low ratings, due primarily to poor marketing choices by Fox.

Alright the G4 channel is playing 2 re-runs a day. I have 19 recorded so far, I absolutely love this show. I also find it funny that it takes place where I live. Anyone else a big fan of buster? George Michael is hilarious, no other show could make such a big deal out of a gf... i.e. ANN.
