If you believe Arrivabene should stay (as I do) reply to this thread.
No. Will Buxton and Joe Saward said he´s an horrible person and their word is law. > > > > > I don´t give a f*** about them. Honestly. I think that the team has improved and Arrivabene deserves at least one more try.
It doesn't matter whether he's horrible or not. Certainly what a journalist thinks of him is irrelevant. What counts is what the staff think and whether he gets the job done. Also, you would have thought people would have learned by now that stability is a good thing and sacking a load of people every time you don't win the World Championship gets you nowhere. Where, for example, is that rubbish designer Aldo Costa who got fired by Ferrari? Oh yes, he's been designing the championship winning Mercedes for the last few years. Jonathan
He will be staying. Buxton and the British press don't know jack. They're just pissy over the fact Ferrari won't bother giving them the time of day this season
From my perspective I don't see why he should go. Perhaps he needs a little technical support. These moron professional arm chair quarterbacks of F1, the special needs Buxton, the supercilious Saward, and that D b a g Ted Kravitz should all take a lesson from Peter Windsor's book and realize that just because you're a tabloid gossip of sport doesn't make you an actual professional in and of it.
Arrivabene is the man for the job. Personally, I did enjoy it when he was more outspoken, but I understand the desire to be more introverted under the current strains within the Championship and those coming from corporate.
Buxton practically asks Elton to marry him in every fawning interview, so I don't put much stock in his opinions.
Like any team, they need to know the boss is behind them (as in marchionne and the board), stability, and for their jobs and expectations/targets to be realistic. They also need the staff for the job. Ferrari need to bring in talent, and make sure the the talent they have, which is clearly excellent, continues to thrive, and is manoeuvred into the positions that will bring the most returns. Lopping off heads every time the results are bad is not going to get them anywhere, every major project has its drawbacks, and this year, they have proven that the car is on the right track, it needs refinement and gentle improvement in reliability, so let the guys that achieved this so far see it, out, and get them additional talent to help with the refinements
I think he should stay too, but I think Marchionne is too much of an attention seeker to let that happen. He constatly tries to make things about him and how much power he has, and that has made the situation within the Ferrari team a very high pressure environment - even more than usual. I think Arrivabene leaves at the end of this season, but I agree he should stay...
Can't say anything about his management style, because I just don't know. But his PR sucks, big time. Somehow Ferrari management never seems to be able to show themselves in front of a camera, never explain stuff. Horner, Marko, Wolff, Lauda are so much more approachable When Arrivabene showed up, he said I''ll improve things, live on BBC. And he did, it lasted about 1 1/2 GP's. Typical Ferrari, typical Italian. Please replace him with Ross Brawn.... It won't happen, so who cares, let him stay.
Sweater boy gets paid for making things change. No change, no need for sweater boy, even though he will soon be gone himself.
To me he represents Italy more than Marchionne. I see him as Luca's successor and Ferrari need him. I actually think he has done a pretty good job. Having said that if the Scuderia do not win the championship next year he has to be moved to a different position within Ferrari.
Never been too impressed by Arrivabene, especially knowing “well” where he “comes” from, but he has to face Italian media pressure as well which is 10x more intense than what all other teams have to put up with. I think he’s a bit of an untouchable given his links with Marlboro but at the same time Binotto might have already replaced him as the de facto principal.
I took time to warm to JT and I think MA is in the same mould ...... he seems to get respect from the team and if I was him I wouldn't talk to the English press or Sky either, they're ****s I still remember the 97 title where the English teams ganged up on Schuey for the final race and kept saying to Williams "friendly coming through" over the radio as JV was closing in
Yep, mclaren and Williams often resorted to that sort of thing to try to beat schuey, great thing was, it rarely worked as he was soooooo good. Course, if we suggest ferrari do that with haas or sauber, the whole of the elton side of the forum would scream blue murder, yet in his racing against massa, happened all the time
The Sky team often allude to the skullduggery that could be performed by the Ferrari side of F1 but skip over the other teams inconsistencies
They hate anyone that they can't call English or British. Tell ya what, if our nightmares came true and elton drove for ferrari, luckily enough, we know we will never have to go through the inevitable fortnight he would last with the Italian press hounding him, his brain would explode, but if he did, sky wouldn't have anything to talk about anymore, they'd be stuffed, no more conspiracy theories against the Italians, or they'd be having a pop at golden balls. Hehehehe.
