    what's the deal with the really rough gear changes?

    They've probably changed the timing to make the box last longer.

    Why would that make the changes so rough?

    The driver can't keep his head still during each gear change.

    maybe the gear changes seem so violent because the driver is far from driving flat out? The boxes shift so quickly these days that you barely have torque interruption to the wheels, so the driver is always pressed into the seat. Whereas that oke is cruising which allows his head to bump around? Just guessing here : )

    Yes, I would also think that could be pretty dangerous. One of the slower drivers makes a mistake or even the F1 driver, I can't imagine. I'm not so sure an F1 car needs to be on the same track at the same time as a mini, etc. But cool nonetheless to see speed differences.
