Anyone doing anything related to the Art Basel show??

In general I've heard it's cool and it runs Thurs-Sun next week. Maybe we can do a Sunday get together and check it out. I'd say Sat but that is the day of the Ferrari Club luncheon in West Palm.

Anyways there's a guy named Lawrence Gartel who does digital media art, and he's releasing a Ferrari project he's been working on a long time. The release party is next Friday at Opium/Prive doors at 11pm flyer posted below.

Also on the guy's MySpace, scroll down to the 4th video posted in the right column, the image is a distorted front end of a red 430, and it looks like a snippet of the DVD video - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=2801465

Anyone want to go to this at Prive?

Cool! I'd love to see that in person but I'll be working overtime to try and finish my own art for Cavallino.

I'd really love to hear how he is received because I've found anything automotive related usually doesn't fare well at most fine art venues. I'd love to see this turned around. Tell most people your an artist and they'll ask what you paint. When you reply "cars" you invariably get that "Oh, that's nice." response. There is this stigma that your somehow not as qualified if you paint car themed works instead of abstracts.

    Not quite yet Paul! ;)

I'm doing something a little different this year for Cavallino, like nothing I've ever done before. I'm going to unveil it Thursday at a private Cavallino party at our warehouse and then show it for the first time at the event on Saturday. I won't show anything until then but I will say it's a hand formed aluminum Ferrari sculpture that is roughly 4' tall x 3' wide x 7' long and has over 1,000 hours of labor in it. It's taken me so long to complete I won't have any new prints until after Cavallino but I should have a whole new collection of prints soon

I wanted to have both but the sculpture still isn't done and it's going to use every minute of the time I have left.
