Worth looking at... Quote: "The best thing that could happen, and the most likely thing, is that you could find yourself driving a great road in your childhood dream car, just the way you always imagined it. The sun is shining, there's no traffic between you and the next 30 miles of S-curves, and you have the whole day to enjoy yourself. If you can have enough of those days, the financial aspect of it won't matter much. It's possible that you'll lose money in the long run. On the other hand, it's absolutely certain that in the long run we'll all be dead. It's also absolutely certain that my friend in that 308QV ended his weekend feeling exuberantly and thoroughly alive. What's that worth, to him, to me, to you?" Classic Sports Car Bubble ? Buying Vintage Cars
On reflection, the last paragraph is what it's all about... I have thoroughly enjoyed burning tanks of gas in Texas and now burning tanks of Benzin in the former DDR... What a stark contrast between the two and, at the end of the day, you simply cannot put a price on this.
Fantastic article. Absolutely thrilled with my 308 doing those 30 miles and s-curves. Have a great weekend everyone.
I think the article captures very nicely the spirit of the car and why we enjoy them so much. Until I bought one, I never thought I'd enjoy owning a Ferrari as much as I do. And, the article makes us feel like investment geniuses buying our cars when we did.
Actually the best line is at the start- "In fact, by the end of the night I had authentic used-Ferrari fever, of the sort that only affects me every 10 years or so" This strikes me every other day....
Great article. Bottom line: weather or not these cars will appreciate in the future one thing is for sure owning one. The joy and fun of driving them is priceless.
I can only agree with this great article, it's the exact reason why I bought my GTB turbo last year...
